Salt Lake City is a lovely place with beautiful buildings and parks and two very special malls in the centre. Everyone we met was very pleasant and there are plenty bars and restaurants. The hotel was excellent - we were met by a very pleasant and professional receptionist and everyone we met after that was exceptionally nice. Rooms were standard Hampton but large, clean and comfortable as usual. Is it because they're all mormons? No, we were amazed at how slight a touch the mormons have for tourists. Their buildings are beautiful and groups of young people dressed as if they were just off the set of a 50s soap opera were the only evidence of mormonism to us. The hotel is well-placed for the downtown attractions and I'd thoroughly recommend it.

When you walk in the Hampton Inn Downtown, you are immediatly treated with a brand new beautiful lobby. The service from front desk to housekeeping was perect and the breakfast provided everything we could have wanted. I highly reccommend the Hampton Inn in Salt Lake City and hope to stay again soon.

Pleasant modern decor, 24 hour pool access, continental breakfast, and spacious rooms make this hotel a winner for those visiting Salt Lake City UT. In-room HDTV with many channels to choose from! My only gripe is noisy A/C unit, but that is typical for many hotels.

Hotel chosen for its location. Easy access to all of town and highways. Less than 10 minutes to airport. Fair value for the area. At first, we booked blindly based on location, amenities and price. Stayed for three nights. Then, on return to town, we intentionally came back

This standard Hampton Inn had exceptional service. My wife was sick and bedridden and called down to the front desk for some bottled water. Some was immediately delivered, along with a handwritten get well card from the front desk attendant.

This Hampton Inn is better than the average Hampton Inn (at a decent price point), so it's a good choice when visiting Salt Lake City. It is in the city center, BUT with eight blocks to a mile, this hotel is still a mile from the heart of downtown and is on the fringe of rough neighborhoods a couple of blocks south or a couple of blocks west. That said, you don't have to worry about safety near the building or in the parking lots. I would definitely stay here again.

The excellent: Nice, modern lobby with ample seating; large and very clean rooms (at least for a single); good mirror arrangement in the bathroom; lots of towels; wonderful French milled soap; large armoire to hang clothes; comfortable beds and pillows; chargers for phones, etc. on the end table; large desk with lamp; plenty of cable channels; 24/7 hot beverage bar; free "delish" cookies at the front desk (nights); free newspapers in the morning in the lobby.

The very good: Expanded breakfast serving time (to 10 a.m.); large selection of cafeteria-type food at the breakfast bar though morning beverages are a bit limited; responsive staff (cleaning staff is very good).

The average: Though the breakfast is decent, it's an awkward set up (two parallel bars with about six feet between) that is nearly impossible to navigate when crowded. People reach over each other to grab things. Logistically, it could be a much better arrangement.

The could be better: Tinier than average bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion and mouthwash (though the cleaning staff resupplies daily); small vanities with an awkwardly placed TP dispenser that is BEHIND the toilet (you actually have to reach in back of you). SLOW elevators. It is not uncommon if you are on the 4th or 5th floor to wait more than five minutes for one of two elevators to take you down to the lobby. One of the elevators had a door that would stick, which creates a little panic.

Terrible points: At Hampton Inn? Nah.

Room Tip: Rooms on the southeast side of the building will be quieter because they do not face 300 West, which...

I stayed here on a business trip in May and this Hampton Inn property exceeded expectations. The lobby area is newly refurbished and the guest rooms clean. The breakfast is your typical Hampton variety but the breakfast staff is especially considerate. Marc went out of his way to make everyone feel welcome and offered mints and a big smile to start the day!
