“Nice business alternative”

If you are trying to save a few bucks on business travel, this is a good place to stay. I have only stayed in the lodge, not the towers (which are about $20/night more). Clean rooms, free internet, and quiet. It is also located 2 or 3 blocks from downtown SLC, so it is cheaper to take a taxi and stay here if you walk to downtown for business than it is to rent a car. Free parking if you do have a car though. I always go on a run in the morning from the hotel up State St. and up City Creek.

Stayed two nights on business in a tower room. My first apartment was smaller than this standard room.

Decor is a bit dated BUT we were toured through the new look that each room is about to be renovated to look like. This hotel is great now; it will be brilliant once this is done.

Bed was comfortable and the views from the rooms are great.

Beautiful hotel. We had a tower room and they are VERY large and spacious. Arrived 10:30 PM Wed night and check in was very smooth but the room I was given was very hot although outside temp was around 55 degrees. Turns out HVAC does not turn on until the room is rented as an Eco thing. So if you check in late, you room is going to probably be way too hot or cold. They moved me to a room with an opening window so
I could let some cool in but the whole time the room remained uncomfortable hot ( even after a maintenance requests). Others in our group said their rooms were freezing (wish I had swapped with one).

Catering was very tasty and meals in the restaurants were very good as well.

I would stay here again but definitely ask them to find me a room with a better AC. Hallways were hotter than a sauna so that may have contributed.

We stayed here for an overnight getaway, and were impressed by this older hotel. The rooms are very large, nicely furnished, and very clean. The only issue we had was our room being placed too close to an elevator that had a bell dinging all night long in the hallway just outside our door. I'm pretty sure they could just disable the elevator bell and that would fix the problem. We'd stay here again but just with a room requested far away from the elevators!

Room Tip: Ask for a room far from the elevators!

My family and I stay at the Little America Hotel fairly often. The rooms are very large and are always very clean. The Decore is somewhat dated but classic an appearance with very comfortable beds. Our favorite thing is the brunch at the Steak House Restaurant. It's delicious with plenty of food for everyone even for those with picky tastes. The location is perfect, just a short walk away from the "free ride zone" on the public transportation. The train will take you right downtown to all the shopping or events. This place is always a family favorite, and we will return again.

The Little America and the adjoining Grand America are certainly two of the best hotels in Salt Lake. The rooms are large and comfortable, furnishings are high quality, the exercise room is as good as a fitness club, the pool is large and well maintained, and the staff are extremely friendly. However, the hotel comes with quirks.

First, they still use physical keys for access to rooms, including the pool and fitness area. These "marlock" keys are really clunky...you need to add them to your keychain or figure out how to keep track of them compared to the more common card key that easily slips in your wallet or purse.

Second, the pool area is really, really noisy...lots of kids and bad acoustics even up until pool closing at 11pm.

Third, some of of the buildings didn't have ramps so you had to drag your baggage up 5 or 6 steps. This caused a lot of grief for some guests.

Finally, I thought room service was pretty expensive and the food only mediocre.

Overall, a very nice hotel but not without quirks.

I came to SLC for a conference that was actually at the Grand America Hotel (right across the street from the Little America)...so I stayed the first night at the Little America. It is not prepossessing from the outside, but it was surprisingly nice. Handsome lobby, beautiful, spacious accommodations (including a tub it was actually comfortable to take a bath in), friendly service, comfortable bed, and a great Cobb salad via room service when I needed some quick lunch before heading to the conference activities. The Grand America is much more, well, grand, but if you don't require that level of over-the-top elegance, Little America is a fine option (and it is literally across the street--which consists of exactly one lane in each direction plus a trolley rail in the middle, not exactly an imposing, daunting-to-cross boulevard--from the Grand America). If it hadn't been more convenient for conference purposes to go ahead and move as planned to the Grand America (plus the fact that the reservations were prepaid, etc.), I would have been tempted to stay.
