“Nice Old Hotel”
Reviewed April 10, 2014

We stayed here for an overnight getaway, and were impressed by this older hotel. The rooms are very large, nicely furnished, and very clean. The only issue we had was our room being placed too close to an elevator that had a bell dinging all night long in the hallway just outside our door. I'm pretty sure they could just disable the elevator bell and that would fix the problem. We'd stay here again but just with a room requested far away from the elevators!

Room Tip: Ask for a room far from the elevators!

My family and I stay at the Little America Hotel fairly often. The rooms are very large and are always very clean. The Decore is somewhat dated but classic an appearance with very comfortable beds. Our favorite thing is the brunch at the Steak House Restaurant. It's delicious with plenty of food for everyone even for those with picky tastes. The location is perfect, just a short walk away from the "free ride zone" on the public transportation. The train will take you right downtown to all the shopping or events. This place is always a family favorite, and we will return again.

The Little America and the adjoining Grand America are certainly two of the best hotels in Salt Lake. The rooms are large and comfortable, furnishings are high quality, the exercise room is as good as a fitness club, the pool is large and well maintained, and the staff are extremely friendly. However, the hotel comes with quirks.

First, they still use physical keys for access to rooms, including the pool and fitness area. These "marlock" keys are really clunky...you need to add them to your keychain or figure out how to keep track of them compared to the more common card key that easily slips in your wallet or purse.

Second, the pool area is really, really noisy...lots of kids and bad acoustics even up until pool closing at 11pm.

Third, some of of the buildings didn't have ramps so you had to drag your baggage up 5 or 6 steps. This caused a lot of grief for some guests.

Finally, I thought room service was pretty expensive and the food only mediocre.

Overall, a very nice hotel but not without quirks.

I came to SLC for a conference that was actually at the Grand America Hotel (right across the street from the Little America)...so I stayed the first night at the Little America. It is not prepossessing from the outside, but it was surprisingly nice. Handsome lobby, beautiful, spacious accommodations (including a tub it was actually comfortable to take a bath in), friendly service, comfortable bed, and a great Cobb salad via room service when I needed some quick lunch before heading to the conference activities. The Grand America is much more, well, grand, but if you don't require that level of over-the-top elegance, Little America is a fine option (and it is literally across the street--which consists of exactly one lane in each direction plus a trolley rail in the middle, not exactly an imposing, daunting-to-cross boulevard--from the Grand America). If it hadn't been more convenient for conference purposes to go ahead and move as planned to the Grand America (plus the fact that the reservations were prepaid, etc.), I would have been tempted to stay.

Recently did some skiing in the SLC/Park City area and stayed at Little America (LM) for the first time. I stayed in a tower room, which was about $30.00 more per night than the courtyard rooms. My room was exceptionally large, two queen beds, flat screen TV, small sofa, desk, dresser, closet w/safe, two sinks and a large marble bathroom with shower/bath combo. I have no complaints, the bed was about right (not too soft nor firm).Linens were clean and changed daily, etc. both lobby and public areas were clean and well kept. The hotel grounds are immaculate, the grassy areas are neatly cut and they even had fresh flowers in bloom-I was impressed. Parking is also provided, free of charge, which is a nice touch. Downtown SLC with it's urban mall and Temple Square are a short walk up the road and if you prefer riding, the UTA light rail is located across the street. Didn't eat here, so I can't comment on the restaurants. A very nice hotel and I'd stay here again. Skier's Tip: LA Hotel is owned by the same company that runs Snowbasin ski resort, you can buy discounted lift tickets from the concierge. You can also buy discounted lift tickets to all SLC/Park City ski areas, at a ski shop across the street from the hotel!

Each year I stay here for an annual UCAP conference and I look forward to the superior service and quality from the hotel staff and rooms. Thank you for all you do to make our stay memorable. The new updates were nice and didn't take away from the special feeling the hotel offers.

We stayed there for a conference and the Hotel did quite a good job for this. It's a 10 minutes walk to the convention center (but not as close as the Hilton or the Marriott) which is super easy to find.

The service is good and the diverse breakfast locations are pretty nice.

Room Tip: Do NOT take a room which faces the street. I was there for the first night, but asked for another ni...
