We visit Salt Lake City to work on Genealogy. The Howard Johnson is only two long blocks away from the Library. Parking at the hotel saves time and money. The rooms are nice and the Wi-Fi is dependable for research in the evenings. The building is old, but always clean and the beds are nice. On the down side, unless you like bagels and cream cheese you might as well skip the breakfast. There is a subway next door with good breakfast sandwiches.
The staff is always very accommodating. We have tried more upscale places but always return here.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms on the North side are the quietest, but we usually like the lower level rooms wit...

If you need modern furniture and a flat screen tv, you won't enjoy staying here. If you're looking for clean, convenient and cheap, this is a good place to stay. All of the furnishings were worn, but the shower was clean, and the shower head was fantastic. It's situated between two Green Line train stops so easy access to center of downtown or to the airport or FrontRunner train. Free breakfast included bagels, pastries, cold and hot cereal, and canned fruits. A deli is located in the same parking lot as the hotel for a quick lunch.

We selected this hotel first because it is in the city center, second for its reasonnable price. We stayed there for two nights (one day is enough for visiting Salt Lake City). It is easy to find and there is no problem to park the car.
The room was large enough (with no excess ...) but with no fridge ; however a little safe was available (you need the help of a person in order to use it) and a coffee pot. The room was pleasant, but the phonic isolation is just a bit limited. The pool was close in September (but we did not really need it). The room for the breakfast is too small (in the lobby) but the food was OK (with waffles and cereals).
From the hotel you can easily - in 15 minutes walking - access the Mall (I recommend it for its architecture) where there are several good restaurants (opened in the evening) and in 25 minutes access the Capitol which is worth visiting.
We were really happy to select this hotel, very well located.

Everyone was very friendly and helpful at the hotel in SLC. The place was very clean and neat. I did not use a few of the thing so I could only give a 3 but if I did I am sure they would have been a 5. The laundry room is not mentioned and it was very clean. I would stay there again
