Residence Inn Salt Lake City Downtown
Ranked #39 of 75 Hotels in Salt Lake City

Property is adequate in every way. Nothing bad but nothing exceptional. Everything was clean, staff was friendly, location is on the fringe of downtown, and breakfast good. I'd say the hotel is probably ready for a re-fresh in terms of the facility itself. Good not great!

This property itself was fine, but the location is not the best. It is in a more industrial neighborhood, with a park across the street - people hanging around by the park make it uncomfortable to try to walk to downtown area alone.

The room was very roomy - kitchen, sitting area, and separate bedroom. Bath a bit small, but certainly adequate.

Breakfast included has a nice variety of foods

This was our starting-off and ending place on our trip out West, and we stayed another night when we met our son at the SLC airport. On the first and last nights, we had a 2-bedroom suite (upgrade), and I have only one complaint about each of them. They were both in the older section of the building, and both had very noisy air conditioners with blowers that aimed right at the head of the bed. We needed a little cooling each night, and every time the fan came on, I had to pull the covers over my head. It's just the way the place is set up - I'm not sure they can do anything to fix it, but would definitely ask for a room in the newer section of the hotel - am sorry we didn't think of that before our last night. On the third night we were there, before meeting our son, we had a one-bedroom suite that was just fine. The breakfast was great, with hot food, including really good potatoes cooked with onions and peppers, and I can't even complain about the coffee, which was better than I've had at other Marriott properties. The front desk staff was really helpful about directions and restaurants. We were able to walk to a brewery-style restaurant twice, and there were other restaurants in the neighborhood. They have wi-fi, of course, but they also have a "business center," which consists of two older computers and a printer, all very slow, but adequate for printing our boarding passes. All in all, we were pleased with our choice.

Room Tip: Check out where the air from the ceiling-mounted air conditioner is blowing. There might be alterna...

Our adult daughter, my husband and I stayed here for 7 nights while spending all but one day at the Family History Library. We had a two bedroom suite which was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. One room had one bed and the other two beds. All comfortable with lots of pillows. Each bedroom had their own TV and very clean bathroom. We like that the tub and toilet are behind the door with the sink on the outside. Much easier to get everyone ready at the same time. Between the two bedrooms was a full kitchen with table and chairs and a sitting area with sofa, large chair and large TV. There was a deck had we wanted to sit outside. Plenty of room for the 3 of us to have our own space. The entire staff was friendly from the desk clerks to housekeeping and the breakfast room staff. We never got off the elevator without a big "hello, how are you today" from the front desk. We had so many questions that were answered cheerfully every day and with maps of how to get around the city. The breakfast was more than adequate. Such an array of hot dishes, waffles, fruit, yogurt, breads and sweets, you name it. You were able to mix and match your meal so you didn't get tired of eating the same thing every day. During our stay there were 3 receptions in the evening. One day was BBQ wings, large pretzles, tossed salad and fruit, the next night was cheeses, crackers, lots of fruit, meat, and salad and finally the 3rd night was hamburgers or hot dogs with all the trimmings. Of course every reception had your drinks of choice from beer, wine, soft drinks or coffe or tea. Those nights we didn't have to go out or to cook in our room. A very nice touch when traveling. We loved the idea of parking in the underground parking area. We had heard this was a shady area of town but we saw no evidence of it. There was a park across the street tho we were always so tired in the evening we did not cross over to check it out. The price of this suite was less than we would pay for 2 rooms in most of the hotels we have stayed in. We will definitely stay here if in the area again.

This was a quick trip for a university graduation, we were busy all day and checked out early the next morning so we were only there a short time, but loved the room and would have liked to stay longer. It happened to also be our anniversary and the desk attendant sent up a bottle of sparking cider which was a very nice touch. We used the fireplace even though it was May and enjoyed the breakfast before leaving the next morning. We really thought this would be a great place to bring our family next time.

Room Tip: There is only one entrance to the building, so a room with a shorter walk from the elevator would be...

I stayed for a week during a conference. The hotel was ideally located, 5 min walk to the convention center, in an area with nice pubs and restaurants. The rooms were kept clean, and were OK, with all kitchen facilities. The breakfast was included and was perfectly fine for a free meal. Coffee and tea was available all day. I enjoyed the fitness room, which was small but well equipped.
The staff was very welcoming and were efficient in answering questions and solving issues.

Room Tip: There are rooms with balcony, and with different sized kitchens (large/ small fridge, large/small si...

Very comfy room, relatively not expensive and quite good breakfast. I don't like ice in the orange juice but it was good anyway! :) Also very clean and well kept by all the housekeeping staff! I really enjoyed the bed, big enough to fit a big man like myself!
