We have stayed at the George Washington Inn the last 3 years. It is absolute luxury. And I forget how inspiring it is to stay there. The commemoration of George Washington's life inspires us to live wisely. Innkeepers, Janet and Dan, are very hospitable and friendly. We look forward to getting away again next year.

We stayed in the Presidential Suite for a Anniversary/Valentine's Day weekend and it was absolutely amazing. Dan was the perfect host and a wonderful chef. He provided a lot of interesting history of the Inn and the surrounding acreage. My wife and I loved the serenity, beautiful panoramic views and romantic surroundings. We will definitely return and enjoy the Inn again. The Presidential Suite is magnificent!

We stayed at the GWI ten years ago and found it to be welcoming and impeccably maintained. When we checked in January 31st, ten years later, we found the GWI to still be welcoming and impeccably maintained.
The rooms are spacious, fully equipped and have a historic theme. George Washington was a lavender farmer and the GWI has an abundance of lavender amenities in the room; ie soaps, sprays and sashes. There is a rustic ambiance to the Inn and your room. Our room had a fantastic view of the Strait of Juan de Fuca looking over to Victoria, BC.
One great part of your stay is the breakfasts. One of the owners, Dan, handcrafted us breakfast each of the three days we were there. Dan credits his culinary skills to his wife, (the other owner), Janet. He made us, (from scratch), breakfasts using culinary lavender which were incomparable. I don’t think I could duplicate them.
The owners are very sociable and knowledgeable of the area. We stayed in early February (winter) and found plenty of things to do. We made the trip to the Olympic Peninsula just to stay at the GWI and explore the mountains and beaches.
I’ve never been disappointed staying at the GWI and I don’t think you will either.

Room tip: Don’t let the time of year stifle your visit. We stayed during the winter and still had plenty to do.

Our kids gifted us two nights, and we had a relaxing and elegant stay. It was just what we needed- a quiet and peaceful time in a beautiful setting. Although we live on the Olympic Peninsula and this was a “staycation”, it was none the less a highlight of our summer. Thank you for sharing your fabulous property.

This was our 6th or 7th stay at the George Washington Inn as we've tried to get back every year for our anniversary. We absolutely love it there. The Inn is amazing, the room is excellent (we always stay in the General's Suite), the food is delicious, and we want for nothing. The Innkeepers (Janet and Dan) go to great lengths to make your stay as perfect as possible. They are also a fully functioning lavender farm, and they roast the best coffee ever. Concerning any low star reviews, if you take the time to read them, you'll notice a theme: people not actually staying at the Inn that are irritated that they aren't allowed to wander all over the grounds, making noise and disturbing the paying guests. Well, as a paying guest, I say THANK YOU to the staff for keeping the private grounds private. The GW Inn is a place to go to get away from it all, enjoy the silence, relax and get a break from the hustle and bustle. I'd give it 10 stars.

Room tip: We always stay in the General's Suite. It's got a private exterior entrance, kitchenette, and a huge jet tub

We stayed here in 2019 and it was wonderful. So we expected the same experience in 2022. For two rooms, two nights at $1800 it just wasn't up to par. The owner, Janet seemed stressed and snippy. The breakfast was just ok instead of fabulous; we attributed this to the loss of the husband and wife team who left/retired. The outside is starting to look rundown with peeling paint and cobwebs on the patio furniture. It feels like the place is struggling and/or having trouble finding help. Overall we were disappointed and will not be returning.

      Scott,

Janet was only 2 1/2 weeks post surgery from a major foot reconstructive surgery and was still managing both the B&B operation as well as the lavender farm (which had just completed its ten-day festival), so we apologize that her exhaustion may have impacted the impeccable service that we seek to provide. As we have done since we opened in 2008, we continue to strive to make this an amazing experience for each of our guests. It was a pleasure to meet your son and daughter, and we were disappointed that you were unable to come with your wife and family for this trip. On the first morning of the stay, we provided a continental breakfast-to-go for all six of our guests who were leaving early for the rainforest, including your family. On the second morning of the stay, we served one of our guests' favorites, an overnight French toast, along with a fresh lime & mint watermelon cup and sausage links.

You are correct in your assessment regarding personnel needs. The paint contractor, who we contacted last year is booked out until this fall. One of our two housekeepers was away on emergency family leave, and our breakfast chef was serving solo without Janet's ability to partner in the preparation and service. Although none of these should be considered an excuse for a diminished guest experience, perhaps it helps you to understand the challenges we faced during your stay.
