Scott,
Janet was only 2 1/2 weeks post surgery from a major foot reconstructive surgery and was still managing both the B&B operation as well as the lavender farm (which had just completed its ten-day festival), so we apologize that her exhaustion may have impacted the impeccable service that we seek to provide. As we have done since we opened in 2008, we continue to strive to make this an amazing experience for each of our guests. It was a pleasure to meet your son and daughter, and we were disappointed that you were unable to come with your wife and family for this trip. On the first morning of the stay, we provided a continental breakfast-to-go for all six of our guests who were leaving early for the rainforest, including your family. On the second morning of the stay, we served one of our guests' favorites, an overnight French toast, along with a fresh lime & mint watermelon cup and sausage links.
You are correct in your assessment regarding personnel needs. The paint contractor, who we contacted last year is booked out until this fall. One of our two housekeepers was away on emergency family leave, and our breakfast chef was serving solo without Janet's ability to partner in the preparation and service. Although none of these should be considered an excuse for a diminished guest experience, perhaps it helps you to understand the challenges we faced during your stay.
