We went to Hurricane Ridge today, we have been there before but this is the first time we made it to the top. OK, not a big deal but I am old and disabled. The views were spectacular, we asked other folks to take our photo's at various point going up and returned the favor. i had the privilage to meet people from North Carolina, New Zealand and Germany, and had the opportunity to use my German learned as a child. the young couple from New Zealand asked if there was any beer around several times, until I realized they meant bear. I told them they are probably within a mile of hear, and they are, very timid animals. We ahd a great time, the visitors center is lovely and the whole experience memorable.

A very good center with lots of information on trails and wildlife in the Hurricane Ridge area. Hands on things for the kids to keep them interested. The real show though is the ~15 mile drive to Hurricane Ridge and the hiking up on the mountain. Beautiful scenery of Mt. Olympus down to the Strait.

For those who are a bit squeamish of heights, however, do note that the squiggly drive up to the ridge is sans guardrails the last 10 miles or so. Just keep the wheels between the lines and you will make it safely back down!

The park rangers here were very busy with a large influx just as we arrived. We had only one quick question, but were trapped behind other tourists with many more and spent more time there than anticipated. They have some wonderful displays about the area that the rest of our party enjoyed after we decided that only one person should endure the line. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful.
