The Black Ball ferry provides transportation to Victoria, British Columbia from Port Angeles, WA two times each day. You can be a foot passenger or take your car. The ferry docks near downtown Victoria so a day visit is an easy trip. There are plenty of seats on the ferry. There is also a cafe and a small gift shop.

A great ferry trip taking our vehicle & passenger across the strait to Vancouver Island. During the off season, if you come reasonably early to line up you do not need a reservation. We showed up around 40 minutes before sail with no reservation and we had no problem getting on board (of course on a weekday in late September). The ride was smooth and view along the way is spectacular. You see the Olympic mountain range slowly disappearing from the stern as you wave good-bye to Washington state. Never-the-less I wish Black Ball could run at least one more sail in the late season, say at 5:30 PM, to allow visitors a complete full day at the Port Angeles area or at the Olympic NP. After all this will help the local economy.

We loved the 20 mile trip across the Strait of Wanda Fuca from Port Angeles to Victoria. The ship is quite large and very smooth. It is very windy from the sitting area up to the bow when under way, but the breeze is deflected at the bow and very calm. Riding into the port to Victoria is beautiful land the bow it the place to be when entering the harbor.
