“Fabulous estate”
Reviewed June 16, 2014

This large and beautiful estate is a delight to the eyes. Even though it is under restoration, the exquisite detail in architecture, carved bannisters, extraordinarily beautiful stained glass, and voluminous ceilings recall the elegance of a bygone era.

“Hay house Mac Hay house...a piece of Macon history”
Reviewed May 29, 2014

Visited hay house last summer and was quite surprised at how wonderful this historical site is. The dining room and ballroom are so beautiful...and don't forget...it is rumored to be haunted!

“No one answers the door”
Reviewed May 18, 2014 via mobile

I can't say whether the Hay House is worth visiting or not. We arrived about 1:20 on Sunday afternoon. They open at 1pm. We rang the doorbell twice over a period of about 15 minutes. We gave up and left.

“This is an unmissable gem!”
Reviewed May 5, 2014

Such an interesting house! Being British I'm used to visiting stately homes, but this house in Macon is up there with the best! The thought and design that went into making it such a comfortable home is phenomenal. It has real elegance and a load of design ideas that would work well in a new home today - fascinating! Our guide, William, was excellent; knowledgeable and a great communicator, plus he's such a nice young man too! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would recommend this to anyone interested in architecture and interior design. However, do not go there if you have young children......especially if you don't have them well-trained and under your control - there are lots of delicate items there!!!! It's a gem that deserves respect and is a place for persons of about 12 years old and up. Macon has a gem in this lovely place.
