Rain Forest Retreat is basic style accommodation. Not bad, pretty decent, great location but not brilliant. Just little things in terms of ageing mattresses, basic linen and cheaper cuts of meat in the food.

Point of note: Because the various budget/younger tour companies often stop here, with the bar party central, its probably not the most family friendly venue. A few people in various state of dress, some wild drinking and the ever familiar stagger through the car park are ever present.

Still its a great location, looks funky from the outside, very nice staff and a decent price still makes me recommend it. Just needs to improve slightly on the bedding.

This resort was a welcome change after being surrounded by lakes for 2 weeks. We stayed in a studio tree lodge & were lucky to get the one right at the end of the resort. There is an outdoor seating & the glass door & bay window ensure that all one can see is thick rainforest and the only sound one hears is that of an occasional bird/insect/wildlife or raindrops falling on the leaves. A small patch in the cieling is made of glass, so you get a glimpse of the rainforest till the last ray of sun goes down.

This was great accommodation it had a double bed with ensuite. The staff were friendly and very efficient checking in and out. The room was located across from the dorm and despite being quite full the accomodation was quiet. The room had tea and coffee facilities this was great after coming back from looking at the glaciers in the rain. The room was cosy and good for sleep and not to hang out in.

The shared kitchen was great when it isn't full, however there were dirty dishes everywhere despite signs saying to clean up after oneself and that there are surveillance cameras.

The sink in the bathroom was tiny and water kept spilling over when you tried to fill the kettle, also the mattress slanted to one side, however, when we told reception this at check out the girl wrote it down for maintenance to check and change the mattress promptly. Was happy with the service.

OK, so my "name" says it all...I'm a light sleeper. The staff was very friendly & welcoming. When we went to this place, it was absolutely packed. Very busy, with people everywhere. Busloads of people. Backpackers, families with kids of all ages, just lots & lots of people. Our room was at the Park Motel studio en suite with kitchen. The first night we were aggravated by inconsiderate neighbors on our floor who allowed their hyper-active children to run back & forth on the walkway in front of our room....for what seemed to be hours on end. OK, so that's not the retreat's fault, that's the irresponsible parent's fault. The room was fine. It was clean, had a TV, nice little kitchen, etc. It's only downfall was the walls are way too thin. Our 2nd & final night there was a light sleeper's worse nightmare. Our neighbor not only had a hyper-active kid bouncing off the walls, but the mom had this loud, "hacking to the point of gagging herself" cough that went on ALL NIGHT. With thin walls you hear more than you care to. If you're a heavy sleeper, you may be OK here. As for me, next time, I'll seek out a quieter "retreat"...
