We turned up to the village and there seems to be lots of accommodation but it was getting quite busy. There are a few different types of accommodation here but they only had the 'motel' available. The staff were very open to letting us see the room first, it was clean with a kitchenette (milk, tea and coffee provided) and a shower in the bathroom. There is a great bar on site 'Monsoon' and they serve really good food and beers. This is great having the bar on site especially when it is raining hard (which can be quite often!). The price was good and the parking is v good. They will also book activities for you. A great village with some good bars and restaurants.

The tree lodge is the luxury style accommodation.
Luxury might be a slightly loose term, however the lodge was comfortable, spacious, quite with a leafy / mountain outlook.
Nice touches were filtered coffee and heated towel rails.
There is a welcoming restaurant with an open fire in the complex with good / hearty food.
The unit was self contained with a handy microwave and hotplate.
There is wireless internet, however only available near reception and not in your room. TV on the small side, however plenty of channels for late nights.
Comparing value with other accommodation / features would stay again.
P.S. The glacier experience is well worth it. We nearly decided to bypass based on pictures.

I suppose if you stay in a dorm setting at this place, you might have a less than wonderful experience. However, my fiance and I stayed in one of the tree lodges and we LOVED it. It really is nestled in the rainforest, with a cute little deck that you can have breakfast on. Great ensuite and comfortable bed, too. We had no problem at all with reception, they were nice as could be. Maybe they have gotten their act together after reading these reviews!

We stayed at the Rainforest Retreat Holiday Park for 2 nights in our motorhome and were very impressed with everything the park had to offer.

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, especially when we wanted to change our pitch, the facilities were clean, warm and comfortable, and being nestled in the rainforest was a really unique experience.

The location of the park is perfect, being an easy short walk from the main road, restaurants, cafes and bars, yet retaining peaceful surroundings. The Monsoon bar was a lively spot with a great atmosphere - perfect to unwind after a busy day of trips.

We were also given a tour of the accommodation by the staff, and found the motel rooms, tree houses, lodges and huts spacious, clean and very well equipped. The complex has a variety of accommodation to suit all budgets, with the more expensive units located in the more peaceful and private areas.

Wow! What a mixed bag of reviews - reflecting, I suspect, the variety of accommodations on offer. We stayed in one of the more expensive “tree houses” out back en route to a glacier trip the next morning. Our room was quite nice. It seemed nestled amongst the rainforest and was clean and quite comfortable.

The place has a bustling feel about it. There are lots of groups coming and going, with what appeared to be a preponderance of younger people involved in tours or trekking. Service at the front desk reflects the fact that there is a lot gong on – if you get uptight at having to wait to be seen, this may not be the place for you. Dinner on site was notable for being a loud setting (in a good way), with basic food prepared simply. Breakfast was not available the next day, although there are lots of good places a block or so away.

My girlfriend wanted to stay here and after reading the reviews I was very worried that the night would be terrible, luckily I was wrong.

We arrived and entered reception, (which I was dreading), but we were welcomed in a very friendly manner by a very helpful woman, our reservation was ok, given instructions on how to get to the lroom and given the milk. I was advised that we had been upgraded to a lodge from the hut which was a nice surprise.

Upon getting to our lodge my girlfriend immediately fell in love with the place, being among the trees. The room was clean and tidy, the bed comfortable and the airconditioning kept the room warm.

In the morning being able to see snow on the hills in such a beautiful setting was lovely and again made our stay just that extra bit special.

At the end of our holiday we had stayed in some very nice places, however my girlfriend and I rate this as the most memorable.

The one thing that made my stay most unenjoyable was the putrid smell coming from the toilet/shower (wet dog odor). I agree with other reviews regarding lack of quality staff here. For example, when I changed some coins for the laundry, the reception could have mentioned about the detergent, but she didn't. Not until I was informed by another guest at the laundry did I know that the detergent could only be obtained from the reception. I had to walk back to the reception. Unfortunately it was just closed but the 2 female receptionists were still there. She just pointed at the 'closed' sign. I also want to complain about the units not being equipped with a hairdryer. How could the management overlook such an important detail? Despite the comfortable bed and pillows, overall, I wouldn't book any more stay here.
