“Good location, Rooms really noisy”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2011

This accomodation is in a really great location. The staff were lovely and helpful on check in. There is a pub onsite which had good food and a great atmosphere. The rooms were small which was fine and how they were described however the walls were absolutely paper thin!! We were awake with people checking out at 6am and we ended up just leaving early. You are not going to get a good sleep here but the place was clean and in a good spot.

The setting - delightful with the rainforest at the glacier. Service was so so and I dont say that lightly however it was a nice stop for the western coast journey. The small touches were lacking though but we would return

Spent 3 nights here in the "Tree top" units (which aren't up in the trees in case you're wondering!). They're spacious, modern, clean units (we stayed in no 25) with a balcony and chairs/table with your own private rain forest! Stunning location and beautiful grounds plus they have accommodation for almost every budget.

Service was great - all my queries were dealt with promptly.

Swedish sauna, spa's, on-site masseuse (Emma) who is highly recommended, on-site restaurant, pub and loads of info on what to do etc. Hot pools and town all in walking distance.

This is our second stay here and we'd def go back again.

Room Tip: We stayed in unit 25 which was perfect, central to everything.

Stayed in one of the motel rooms - it was situated straight opposite the reception and the Monsoon bar. The resort is a few mins walk from the main street in Franz where there is a small supermarket and where the offices for the glacier hikes and other acitivies are based. Was staying during the world cup so it was busy and it the hostel part of the resort is where the Kiwi Experience groups stay. The staff at resort were friendly and very helpful. Good facilites - cheap internet, good shared kitchen facilites, hot pool etc. The room was small but extremely comfy and had everything that i needed. Had a small breakfast left in my room each night which was bonus. Good value for money in what is essentially a very tourist based location. Both nights was in the Monsoon bar - great place for food and drinks. Atmosphere was great in the bar - staff were friendly and there were 'games' for prizes such as a rafting trip in queenstown etc. Had a really great stay in Franz and would recommned it to anyone

We stayed in a motel room (I think that's what it was called) and it was absolutely perfect. The decor and style of the room was so nice and cosy and the bed was really comfortable (something important and hard to find for two people with back injuries!).

It is in a great location, only a few minutes walk from everywhere, plus in a beautiful setting in the rainforest.

We were very impressed with the Monsoon Restaurant & Bar. The hospitality we received from the staff was fantastic. They made a small mistake with our order but it was quickly rectified - including a new meal, free drinks and extremely attentive service.

The whole experience was fantastic and we really wished we could have stayed for longer than just one night.
Definitely recommend Rainforest Retreat as a great place to stay and good value for money. Thanks! We will be back!

Great location for visiting Franz and Fox, great facilities which were spotless and convenient and all important excellent powerful showers. The Monsoon Bar onsite served good food and drinks and the happy hour is great value :) Helpful staff, nice grounds and all-in-all a great stay. Dont bother paying silly hotel prices as Im sure th rooms and units would also be a great choice.

Campervan site was cheaper than many of the other parks we stayed at too at $34.
