Access road to the FJ Glazier is fully open with large car park at the top (4 km from main road). Small central section is dirt road where it has been rebuilt after severe floods last year. Road is busy all day with many visitors, but not congested.

The walk to the glacier is a nice walk with impressive views of the river, the boulder-strewn valley, and some nice waterfalls along the way. The glacier itself looks beautiful when the weather conditions are right.

Interesting trip to the Franz Josef glacier. Round trip hike of about 1.5 hours, and was educational and sad knowing that the beautiful glacier had retreated so much due to climate change. Would highly recommend bringing your kids here and teaching them about climate change, so that we can better take care of nature!

it is a really easy and nice walk to see the glacier. 1.5h return if you take your time walking it and taking pictures (as the whole walk is mesmerizing) otherwise, you could do it in 1h

The walk to the Glacier is along a maintained track for about half the walk followed by a well trodden path next to the valley moraine. Depending on when you go you'll see vegetation, cliffs, waterfalls and if you are lucky like us, blue skies. The negative reviews on here are comical. The Glacier is receding. Blame Global Warming not the walk itself. You can only get to within about kilometre of it by going on this valley walk. Any bit of Google research will tell you this.
