“not everyday can you climb up a glacier”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

When we got there we wanted to do the helicopter trip up to the glacier and climb in the crevasses, but the weather was terrible,

so we opted for the crampon walk and climb up the face of it. WOW, awesome,

hard work, cold, sweaty, but geat fun, i loved it. not for everyone, but so so much fun and that you are on it. proper explorer feeling he he

“The helicopter ride was the highlight”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

The trip was well organised, you are provided with all the kit required.
From the town you are taken to the Glacier by a helicopter which takes about 10 minutes. The walk itself isn't very far, but took a long time due to some slow people taking loads of photos and falling over. Our guide was very laid back and not overly knowledgeable.

Its a lot of money to go for a cold walk

“Nice, pleasure, simple walk to the glacier”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

We came from fox glacier and stopped here for another walk. We took our elderly mother for a slow walk and she enjoyed it as the walk from the carpark to the glacier is flat. That is how flat the valley was. The pathway were all properly marked and there was a few great and tall waterfalls. You will not be able to get too close to the glacier unlike fox glacier.

“great even in the wet”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

Started the walk to the glacier in a light shower by the time i was half way it was throwing it down ,but i was not going to give up the water fall on the way was worth the walk anyway.the size of the valley is amazing, what nature can do.would have liked to have got closer to the glacier but you have to be careful .returned totally soaked but well worth it.

“air safaries, Franz Josef”
Reviewed November 7, 2013

I did a 50 Minute flight from Franz Josef Airfield up over the Fox Glacier, around Mt. Cook and Mt. Tasman, over to eastern side of the divide viewing Lake Tekapo then back to the western side , flying down the Franz Josef Glacier back to airfield. Tony ,our pilot was very professional, and it was the smoothest mountain flight I had every done. we navigated around clouds as we climbed to 9500ft. It was a flight to remember.
