Alice Mays is a quiet tastefully decorated restaurant in an old house. I was lucky enough to get there for their happy hour special which offered a choice of four mains with a glass of beer or tap wine. The staff were pleasant without being overbearing, the food was excellent. Desserts were extra but delicious. I recommend the "adult icecream" (made with liqueurs).

We were given a discount voucher from our accommodation (58 on Cron). We arrived after a long day of driving and were greeted by friendly staff. The setting is warm and "homey". Our meals were quick to come out to us and really delicious. I had the lamb shanks and my husband and 4 year old son had the roast and kids roast. The portions were generous and the meals tasted like a (great) home cooked dinner! The prices were very reasonable. We only had two nights in Franz, otherwise we would have been back to enjoy another meal!

We got there just after the "happy hour" (or whatever it was called) had finished, but the guy offered to let us chose from it. This was very good value and the serves were massive (he said the only real difference between the hh meals and the normal ones was the size, so wouldn't have wanted to tackle a bigger one). We had two lot so fish & chips & lasagne from the hh meals and my husband had the venison casserole from the main, which was very tasty and something a bit different to what we normally get in restaurants.

We went to Alice Mays for a pre dinner drink during their happy hour, and found it to be a quaint, cosy and warm spot for a few beers. The staff were very friendly. We did not stay for dinner as menu seemed some what limited.
