“Clean & tidy rm's and facilities.... :-)”
Reviewed April 12, 2014

A pleasant tidy top 10, offering no extra's but did the job....
We were given a warm welcome after driving +7hrs over authers pass.... (not what google maps said....)
The rm was pretty basic but did the job with a double bed, bunks and sml kitchen... It was clean and tidy and near the facilities....
The facilities/toilets were mixed, but private... very clean(with a shower and toilet in some)...
AS it was an overnight-er and we were driving onto queenstown next it did the job well enough...
The chap on reception was very helpful and recommended us to a great pub in town....

Room was a basic self contained with a queen bed, a bunk + a single bed only a few km out of town. It was clean except for some hair in the bathroom sink. Had good wifi reception for $5/24hrs which had 100gb limit. Shared kitchen and lounge was clean and had basic utensils for cooking. I would stay here again.

We stayed here for two nights and had a nice time. The room was large, warm and comfortable. We also had access to a communal kitchen and lounge room with decent facilities. Internet was available for $5 for 100gb (not mb, gb) for a 24 hour period (you can pay more for extra time periods). Staff were friendly. The place was almost empty too so it was very quiet. Room was very clean, apart from some hair in the bathroom sink plug. It was a little bit out from the town so you may wish to stay closer to the town if you don't have a car. For the price it was excellent.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom family unit. You know those feelings when you pull up in front of an accommodation and you think…I don’t like the feel of this!!! I was right. The most ridiculous setup for a unit I have ever stayed in. As soon as you walk in you are confronted by a double bed in the entryway. There are nowhere for the adults to put their bags. The one bedroom had 3 single bunks. Who knows what you would do if you had 3 kids with you as far as all your stuff. There was no lounge to sit on only the kitchen chairs and two other chairs of the same type. Once you start paying over $150 per night you expect things to be right. We couldn’t get the TV to work…turns out the instructions in the room were completing wrong. The room had a kitchenette….no tongs….went to use the BBQ the tongs provided there wouldn’t close so you couldn’t pick up your food with them. You have to sit on the bed basically to watch the TV which is about 5 meters away….and of course the remote doesn’t reach that far does it!!! To top it off the light on the TV of a night time lights up the room like a beacon…seriously, I woke up during the night and had to lift my knees up to try and block out the light. Don’t these managers actually stay in the rooms. Couldn’t fault it for cleanliness, it was spotless but as far as comfortable and relaxing to stay in definitely a zero.

Room Tip: No tips look around.

Location of the Park was ok, but still needed a car to drive into main strip. Staff at reception very friendly and I appreciated their help and advice with tours and activities. We booked an Ensuite Unit which I found to be extremely small. The entire room needs a makeover. New carpet, change the bed cover, add some pictures on the walls. Unfortunately the bathroom/toilet area is so small, it's nearly impossible to even wash your face over the basin without hitting your head on the shelf infront of you - the basin is tiny and meant only for hands washing. The actual design of the rooms were not planned out for practicality. Luckily we ate out for both nights. I had walked into the communial kitchen and was not impressed with the odour of the area. Best to spend the extra money and book one of the bigger rooms.

Room Tip: If you are a couple, choose one of the bigger rooms, even if you have an extra bed - it's worth...

Used a Powered site for campervan. Facilities very clean, well organised and laid out park and all staff very friendly and helpful. Great views of surrounding mountains and within a 15/20 minute walk into the Franz Joseph village. Car Park to undertake walk to Glacier only 4 km's away. Wouldn't hesitate to book again if returning to this part of the South Island.

Driving in to the franz josef park the laneways are full of potholes. At the time I stayed here the kitchen was 50% broken - the hot water zip wasn't working, there was no kettle so you had to boil water in a pot if you wanted hot water. 2 of the 4 cooker tops were broken. This resort is also quite a bit out from the town. Disappointing

Room Tip: Go to TOP 10 in Fox Glacier instead!
