Franz Josef TOP 10 Holiday Park
Reviewed February 11, 2014

Nice holiday park, powered sites have a cemented ground for the campervan. Toilets and showers were clean and enough for the site. This campground is the base for going to the glacier and doing flights to the glacier.

Great facilities and stunning mountain views made this camping ground one of our favourites.

Spacious camp sites; large unisex showers and toilets; good kitchen set up and good all round facilities. Outdoor play spaces for kids were good too.

Situated just before the township it was a quick 3 min drive into town and nice not to be in the midst of all the tour groups.

Stayed here for two nights in two rooms with our two kids and two grandparents. A kitchen cabin with linen and an ensuite with linen. The kitchen was pretty small in the kitchen cabin. Next time I would just go for the ensuite unit. Although, we were very close to bathrooms so it was really no trouble. Easy access to village, informative staff who helped us choose a glacier adventure that was good for all of us. Clean facilities and well tended. Glacier view on a sunny morning was an added treat.

We had a motel unit with kitchen facilities. The room was very modern, clean and everything we needed was supplied. The bed was very cosy and we has plenty of privacy. Views of the glacier out our window were a bonus treat !!

We had a standard cabin with linen and were quite comfortable with our choice. The room size was perfectly adequate for 2 adults and 2 teenagers, and the bed configuration of a queen and a bunk were perfectly arranged to allow enough space for our luggage. The room had a fridge and a jug. A wall heater was installed should we have needed it. Having stayed at many Top Ten holiday parks previously, we were quite surprised to see that there were no communal kitchen utensils or pans to use as is the case in all others we have stayed at. This proved problematic until we enquired about the use of a single pot from the office. The staff were happy to lend us one from the usual cooking packs they hire so we were very grateful for that as we had brought with us our own plates and cutlery. Overall a good experience with great amenities.

Torrential rain created huge puddles in drive ways due to many pot holes in their roads. A short drive from township. Stayed in cabin that could sleep 6 … cute and met our needs with two bunk beds and a double bed with pillows and sheet provided; shared kitchen facilities were good but had to hire a pot; great to see recycling focus here; unisex showers and toilets. Games room for the kids (great for a rainy day, but beware … kids have to pay for some of the games, so one child had spent $10 worth of coins quite quickly!! Hot zip for hot water was a plus in the kitchen. $5 for 1 hour Wi Fi but slow connection.

Room Tip: Flame but with no heat from gas stove – had to use electric stove which was fine

We booked a one bedroom cabin for 2 adults 2 children. It was clean and had most things you needed. The TV wouldn't work and there was no frypan, but both were rectified when we reported it. Just a small thing, there was no dish rack for washing up which just made it awkward. The staff were friendly and helpful and recommended several activities in the area.
