We rented a private pool. I was a little nervous until I saw how meticulously they clean them! It was beautiful sitting in a pool in the rainforest with just the two of us. One hour is plenty of time. Includes private shower/toilet and changing facility. You are then welcome to use the public pools. They were crowded ( a rainy day) so we passed. This is a nice little romantic treat

Lovely experience and gave us something nice to do in the evenings ( after it rained relentlessly) was lovely to have the rain land on you while in the 40 degree pool. Really relaxing and clean, tidy, well run.

Well worth a visit!

Note-Showers after the hot pool did not have doors which I would have liked for privacy, also did not have hair dryers or cubicles to get changed. They could do with adding these for a better experience for customers.

The weather was cold and the rain freezing - but the thermal pools were just right. I found a spot to sit under the overlapping sail cloth (as it was dark I can't tell how much sun they would block out) - this reduced the number of cold wet rain drops that landed on my head - all part of the fun. Most people seemed to prefer the cooler pool, while I spent time in the two warmer pools. The pools are really well set up, so you can find yourself a quiet nook to sit and relax. The only down side was that the lockers for clothes were (i) not particularly easy to find and (ii) open on one side and the rain got in a bit. And, of course, it was cold getting out of the pools! The changing rooms were very smart - the showers appeared to be in a cleft in rock, which was a great touch.

This was a highlight of our trip to Franz Joseph - mainly because it was cold and wet, and the Glacier pools were warm and wet! Franz Joseph receives around 5100mm of rain per year according to the visitor centre. I'd recommend upgrading to the private pools which come with their own shower / toilet and change room. Included in the price was access to the 3 other pools, so it was easy to try out the lot by getting there a little before our booking time.
