We enjoyed our 1 night stay here. Karen our hostess was a great character. At the time of staying, 3 of the 4 couples were Brit’s and all three men had a wicked sense of humour. They teased Karen endlessly but being a tough character she was able to stand her ground. The room was clean and bright with en suite and comfortable bed and had lovely views of the mountains. We were amazed that in the evening a helicopter landed in the yard a few metres away from our window. Karen explained that she let’s her barn to one of the pilots of a Helicopter Company and he puts it to bed there each night.

Myself, husband and two friends stayed with Karen at Fox Glacier Mountain View B/B for two nights in superb rooms with stunning views - on a good day !! On the final morning we managed to go over Fox Glacier in a helicopter and walked on the glacier. This was arranged by Karen the previous day. However, we did not pay until we had done the trip. We wanted to do both Fox and Franz Joseph glaciers but the pilot decided that due to misty conditions it was not possible, therefore we only paid for the shorter trip. If you are looking for accommodation in Fox Glacier, Mountain View B/B is the best.

Karen is what makes this place shine! She has transformed a pretty home into something special. When we think of Fox, we will remember her above all, which is saying something with all the beauty surrounding her home. But be warned, it rains about 1/2 the time [being on the west coast] so, for us, the views were just a rumor. If that happens to you, ask Karen to show you her pictures. We did a self hike to the base of the glacier which was mostly hidden by clouds/fog but it was still a nice couple of hours spent on an easy walk. Get ready for a big breakfast with interesting conversation. Overall, very nice clean and cozy room and great location. We could only stay one night but could have stayed several - just not enough time. Say hi to Cow, which should have had her calf by now. Yep, it's that close to nature! I can still hear the Fox River in the distance - - -
