Stayed here recently with another couple. We found it on trip advisor and as usual we were not disappointed. The food is particularly good and Dave and Lee are delightful hosts.
We recommend this place very highly

We had a warm welcome and enjoyed Dave and Lea's welcome. Modern and purpose built to offer guests a good stay we enjoyed our large room and excellent bathroom, plus a very comfortable bed with quality linen. We chose to stay for dinner and really enjoyed it, good food and wine, taken at one table with the other guests. Breakfast was good, we took ours at 8.45 which suited us, as some of the other guests particularly wanted to have theirs at 7.30.

We stayed only 1 night at Misty Peaks, a big mistake, we should have stayed longer. Excellent accommodation, great location with views of the surrounding mountains. a very comfortable room with a equally comfortable bed. Free WiFi is available. Dave the Host was great. Our dinner of Venison steaks was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection with e very good wine to accompany it. We were booked to fly onto the Glacier next morning at 0900 but because of the poor weather it looked like our flight would be cancelled. Enter Dave!! He contacted the helipad and fixed it for us to fly at 0815, the only flight to get up and land on the Glacier that day. Dave saved the day for us. He also helped us by getting our laundry done!

Room Tip: One night is NOT enough, Dave can help you fill your time by advising sites to be seen.

The Misty Peaks is a great place to stay in Fox glacier.

The service is great, the hosts are very friendly and the B&B is near everything in Fox.

If you want to avoid the crowds and have a nice night of sleep in Fox glacier this is the place to have it.

We were very pleased with our experience.

My wife and I stopped at Misty Peaks for one night on our two month tour of NZ and Australia and it was one of the nicest places we stayed. The owners, Dave and Lea Bentley, really made our stay a pleasure and couldn't have done enough for us. The house is about 5 minutes walk from the town of Fox Glacier and it has wonderful views of Mount Cook and Mount Tasman which were clearly visible from our lovely bedroom. Dave and Lea designed and built the house around 9 years ago and it is obvious that they want all their guests to love the house as much as they obviously do. We left after a wonderful cooked breakfast and vowed we would, one day return to Misty Peaks!

We stayed at Misty Peaks for one night at the start of our New Zealand trip at the beginning of February. Unfortunately it rained so we had to cancel our helicopter trip to Fox Glacier, very disappointing! Thanks to Dave and Lea we had a very enjoyable stay. Welcoming cups of tea, excellent wine, a lovely dinner, good breakfast and comfortable rooms. Yes Dave did warn us about the fridge so we unplugged it, didn't see that as a problem!! We had a puncture on our way there and Dave helped us sort things with the carhire company. They were lovely hosts and we were disappointed not to be staying longer. If we return to New Zealand Misty Peaks would definitely be on our itinerary!

We had toured NZ for 5 weeks and decided to treat ourselves to a boutique B&B.. Misty Peaks seemed Ideal. We stayed 2nights. Being purpose built the bedrooms are large and comfortable, but we soon discovered that 8 other guests were staying so it was run more like a small hotel. The rooms were very clean but there was a dirty drain smell in the en suite. The small fridge which held a tiny jug of milk( enough for 2 cups only) made such a noise we had to turn it of at night. There were no biscuits or extras to have with your cuppa.
Outside the French doors we were unable to see the peaks for the unruly climbers which hung around the veranda. The tables and chairs were covered in dust and spiders webs.
We ate in both evenings and enjoyed a lovely meal, cooked by Dave, who sources local produce and is willing to help with dietary needs. The continental breakfast was alright but nothing special. Cooked breakfasts were good.
On our arrival we felt straight away that this was a business and not a homely B&B. Everything was noted down very formally and every thing seemed to be extras which had to be paid for.
There was some guidance given of places to explore which we appreciated but we felt that we were expected to book helicopter trips with the hosts chosen company. We didn't!!
The hosts admitted to being tired and in fact told us it was because they were so busy cleaning our toilets. May have been Kiwi humour but we didn't get the joke.
Maybe it's time they retired?
This was the most expensive B&B we stayed in but all that glistens is not gold. Shame!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Don't. Be aware 4heliports close by.

Hi
We are always disappointed to receive a negative review although we have very few. Sometimes guest expectations are not met for various reasons often outside of our control and sometimes we make mistakes. This reviewers first complaint is that there were 8 other guests staying, on our web site we clearly have 5 rooms so 10 guests!!
The rooms are very clean and we cannot find a smell from a drain in any rooms. We always tell our guests that if the fridge noise annoys them just unplug the fridge and we will replace the milk in the morning. Fridges are a problem, if you dont have them people want them and if you do they make a noise
We get lots of compliments about the climbers on the balcony and the lovely smell of jasmine but they do have a negative effect on the view but you can easily look around them
We are not sure what the extras that you need to pay for are
Breakfast is free, continental or cooked
We offer a cup of tea or coffee on arrival which is free
A large glass of wine and cheese is offered at 6.30pm and that is free. If you want more wine then we will sell it to you. First glass is free
Wifi is free
The only things we charge for are dinner if you choose to have dinner in and wine with that dinner if you choose to have wine. I note that the only thing this reviewer paid for other than their room was dinner so i dont understand their complaint about charging for extras. Surely they dont expect me to cook them dinner for free
We also charge $10 for a load of laundry which we wash and dry if we are asked
We dont apologise for running the property as a business, i would have thought all accommodation places are businesses, and we have a large sum of money invested in land and buildings. We also work long hours from 7.00 am to 10.30 pm for which we expect to get some reward.
We do get a little tired as we near the end of the season but that happens to everyone in this quite demanding 7 day a week business
We do however enjoy our jobs very much and will continue as we have for the last 10 years and continue to share many laughs with our guests who do share our kiwi humour and we look forward to meeting many more delightful guests in the future
Dave and Lea
