When we got here we were greeted by a couple from Christchurch who were house sitting for the owners who had to go to the hospital for emergency surgery. The couple who we met didn't even know the owners, (their daughter knows the owners a little)they just came down here to help total strangers in a time of need! The place is very clean, great showers! Awesome breakfast, very quiet and we had a lovely stay. We were truly inspired by the kindness of our hosts and wish all the best and a speedy recovery to the owners!

Thanks to my trusted travel agent Michele for booking me into the Misty Peaks Lodge! My only complaint is the length of my stay; one night was not enough for this beautiful area and for enjoying the comforts at the Lodge. Lea and Dave are terrific hosts. The home is beautifully sited, extremely quiet, well-appointed, and designed with traveler/guest comforts and convenience in mind, including an exterior door so comings and goings don't require trekking through the house to reach your room. Oh, and Dave is a terrific cook! I will be back.

If you are looking the best accommodation in this area then look no further. This is my second visit and nothing has changed from our first. You could not meet a more friendlier, laid back, host where nothing is a problem. The room was one of the best well maintained ones I have come across complete with heated floors. The food and wine are top class as usual.

Our third visit to Misty Peaks and definitely not our last. David and Lea are super hosts from the moment you arrive and until you depart. The rooms are spotlessly clean, comfy king size bed and a great shower.Tea and coffee facilities are now availablein your room which is not all that necessary as Lea will always make a cup. You can gain accessto your via the internal hallway or through glass doors to the outside, you are able to drive right up to your door to unload your car. A complimentary glass of wine, with an excellent selection of NZ cheeses to go with, are provided in the evening. You then have an option of dining in and having a lovely home cooked meal by Dave or you can head for town where there isn't muchon offer.Eating in gives you to the opportunity meet some well travelled folks. We had to leave early nextr morning to drive to Haast for a boat trip and Dave sent us on our way after an early, lovely cooked breakfast ( the best bacon I have ever had). It was made even better as we didn't eat again until late that night in Queenstown
While we have only stayed in about 30 B&B's in NZ this by far the best, We will be back.

After a long drive from Aoraki/Mt Cook we arrived at Misty Peaks late in the afternoon. Lea greeted us immediately and showed us to our room. We were on our Honeymoon Holiday and were upgraded to the Honeymoon Suite. The next morning Lea made us breakfast and it was a great way to start the morning. On our return from the day, we enjoyed a glass of wine with the hosts Dave and Lea and the other Misty Peaks guests. Our Honeymoon Suite was beautifully decorated with a lovely jacuzzi and a comfortable bed. The second morning, we again had a wonderful breakfast this time cooked by Dave. We enjoyed our two night stay very much and would not hesitate to stay at Misty Peaks the next time we are in the neighborhood. Dave and Lea were lovely hosts.

Room Tip: Splurge for the Honeymoon Suite.

Misty Peaks was great! It had the perfect feel of home with all of the conveniences of a hotel (plus some). Free wine (Dave pours a generous glass too) and nibbles when you show up. Dave gave great advice on walks around the area and was a great host. I will stay here again if I am ever in the area and will tell anyone I know that this is the place to stay if they visit.

A nicely presented house located a little away from Fox village but secluded and quiet. Rooms modern and well appointed with comfortable beds and french windows with views to the mountains.

The hosts are friendly and inquisitive, but I found their schedule too tight and inflexible - evening meeting drinks at 6.30 sharp and breakfast at or around 8.30 don't go down well when we have our own schedules to follow. I felt a little bit like a goldfish and a little uncomfortable.

Aside from that, they do a nice job of keeping their house up together and clean.

Hi
Just a quick reply to clear up some confusion in this review. Breakfast is anytime from 8.00 to 9.30 or 10.00 if you wish. If you need breakfast before 8.00 to meet other plans we will accommodate, no one has ever left hungry. Often we have people flying helicopters early then having breakfast later and i try to avoid everyone coming at once as i cook to order and that takes a little time.
From 6.30 to 7.30 in the evening we offer a complimentary glass of wine with a cheese board but this is not compulsory then we offer a la carte dinner from 7.30 as an optional extra. These times seem to suit most people who have stayed with us in the last eight years
Kind Regards
Lea and Dave
