“B & B”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2013

We stayed in the B & B accomodation for two nights. Unfortunately the weather was not that good during our stay, so we did not see to much of the surroundings. During the second breakfast we met some other travellers and they said that Frans Joszef was great the day before, oops we forgot to check the weather there, but actually the host knew we were awaiting of better weather, so it is a bit of a pity that she did not suggest / check this for us.
Also the breakfast was not that good, just an average simple buffet style, we have had much better breakfasts during our trip in NZ. Ow and do not take room 8 as it is adjecent to the breakfast room and you can hear every movement the people make in there.

Room Tip: Well as I said, do not take room 8 ;-)

Our stay at Fox Glacier was impromptu and early in the season (mid December). Perhaps that explains some of the management confusion on our visit since we were initially greeted by someone who couldn't check us into a room and then hastily packed into it by the manager. Even though we were booking her best accommodations she was very short with us and unlike some of the other reviewers, there was definitely no tea and cookies. We did not get any cozy feel from that side of the experience. But the two story condo was nice and the bath luxuriously large. We also enjoyed the in-room fireplace although it was a bit temperamental turning on/off. Laundry on the premises was useful as well.

A very good location for a rest after the glacier walk. Value for money $46 for a family of 4. Kitchen is very tiny and lacks seating capacity but the bathroom is clean and very spacious. Both facilities are on the opposite side of each other in the camp site. Seems very popular as it filled up quickly,

I booked this place after reading reviews on Tripadvisor and I was not disappointed. The unit we stayed in was very clean and tidy. The fireplace was very quaint and the bathtub in the bathroom is huge!
It is very near to the glow worm and a very good restaurant (The Last Kitchen).
Highly recommended

After abandoning Fox Glacier Inn's mouldy rooms, we ended up here in a two storey unit and were happy to pay a little extra for this gem. From the snacks brought to our room soon after check in to the help with re-arranging our cycling travel plans with the bridge out further north, the service was top notch. Laundry facilities were excellent and the room very well appointed. Very well located to restaurants and tour guides. Perhaps one of our best sleeps our whole 25 day trip.

My husband and I pushed the boat out a bit from our usual budget camping accommodation and stayed here for a weekend in August to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary. Once she realised us shabby backpackers had not wandered into the wrong place and really did want to stay in the 'fancy lodge' our hostess went out of her way to welcome us and make our stay that little bit more special. She struck that perfect balance between friendly/helpful and giving us our own space. Turned up at our door with a little basket of fresh fruit and flowers - the symbol of four years married she told us! And later freshly baked bread also arrived at our door. The apartment we stayed in was immaculately clean, spacious and in superb condition. Nice quality touches of toiletries in the bathroom (with spa bath) and kitchenette of fresh milk, biscuits, tea coffee and hot chocolate. So thank you to our hostess at Fox Glacier Lodge for going that extra mile to make our stay more memorable!

This lodge with campervan sites attached wins my prize hands down for the best place we stayed in NZ. The site backed on to lush rainforest where a short walk in the night showed glowworms for free in their natural habitat. The bathroom facilities were by far the best in NZ,clean, hot and powerful showers and somewhere to put your clothes. The laundry & appliances were immaculate and cheap. Deb made a booking for a helicopter flight the next day at Franz Joseph and knew where to get the best deal for our family of four, and provided free items from her first aid kit for my daughter's graze. It was a 100m walk to a fantastic cafe The Last Kitchen, we could not have loved it more, only wished we'e had more time to enjoy.
