Trish was a great host. She was very knowledgeable and provided great tips on local things to see and do. The dining area is very interesting. Found the hand made table amazing.

On the last leg of our 2 weeks exploring the South Island, we decided to stay at Ropatinis B&B in Fox Glacier…

The house is located right after the school and on the road leading to the amazing Lake Matheson… we were greeted by our host Trish, which was a sun during all our stay… the house has a southern warm feeling and the rooms are frugally decorated but inviting… the bed is very comfortable but the bathroom was very small… not a big issue… good free wifi in the house…

Breakfast was served every morning consisting of fruits, bakes, coffee and the… more than enough for those of you with good appetite… We had breakfast both days with Trish and one day as well with Colin and they are certainly the bomb… we enjoyed very much our stay here and would certainly recommend it to other travelers since we think it is value for money and provides a nice insight into the NZ lifestyle…

Great spot to stay when visiting fox glacier, Trish & Collin were wonderful hosts, they made us feel right at home, we had breakfast & dinner with them which was both entertaining (Collin wears very interesting pants) & informative, the property used to be a hunting lodge & hunters still come & stay from all over the world to hunt the elusive mountain goat called 'Thar' see attached image! My hubby broke his sunglasses earlier in our trip & Trish had no hesitation lending him a pair for the glacier hike, it was that kind of personal attention that was special. The food was all 'home cooked' and there was plenty of it, we even left with some muffins for the next leg of our journey. The accomodation was very 'country' & very comfortable, the massive dining room window looking out to the mountains was really picturesque. If you want to hang out with some locals & add some personality into your trip then I highly recommend staying here. It is also close to Lake Matherson, which is worth the journey, my advice walk the right hand fork if you just want to take photos on the lake, you'll get there quicker :) As for Fox Glacier, that was one of the best experiences of my life, we chose to do the Heli hike & it was well worth the dollars we spent, amazing!

We completed our month-long trip to New Zealand at Ropatini's B&B in Fox Glacier. The location, accommodations and hosts could not have been better. Our hosts, Trish and Collin, we're very helpful with what to see and do in Fox Glacier (don't miss the rainforest and helicopter ride). The breakfasts were very generous and delicious as was the dinner we asked them to prepare. The views of Mt.Cook from Ropatini's can't be beat. Trish and Collin are the perfect hosts.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the cabins they built which are right next to the main house. Lovely with every...
