Hillsfield House Bed and Breakfast Marlborough
Ranked #1 of 9 Renwick B&B and Inns
Reviewed October 4, 2010

As a part of our honeymoon, we stayed at the Hillsfield and loved every minute of it. Although it rained on and off during our stay, the quality and service we recieved from the two of the friendliest and most accomodating people Jo & Steve (& Twiggy - The lovely alpaca). The place was brand new, every corner was tastefully decorated and made the guests feel at home. Jo's breakfasts are to die for as she is quite a chef. The location is very convenient for any activity you can think of for the region. In short, we had great time staying at the B&B and hope to go back in not too distant future.

My wife and I would thoroughly recommend Hillsfield House to any couples desirous of visiting the wonderful Marlborough wine region. Jo and Steve are excellent hosts who go the extra yard to make your stay enjoyable, comfortable and ever so relaxing. They are very obliging with any requests readily met. A super friendly Alpaca named 'Twiggy' will make an impression on those guests who are fond of pets. Make sure you sample Jo and Steve's superb, home grown olive oil....sensational for those who like their olive oil with a hint of pepper. We are already planning our return to NZ and will most definitely be staying at Hillsfield House.

We returned to Hillsfield House and stayed in The Courtyard a beautiful new addition to match The Loft accomodation above. The bed and other amenities are all first class, such wonderful ambience! All you have to do is relax and enjoy the experience. We will be returning to this treasure spot to endulge ourselves yet again. Thanks for the treat!

Our stay at Hillsfield House was, to put it simply, perfect! Jo really is the hostess with the mostess and ensured that we were made to feel welcome in every way possible (in addition to wonderful freshly made cakes and a great breakfast!) Hillsfield House is also unique in that you are made to feel so much at home with every comfort as well as a great deal of privacy. It was a perfect B&B and after thorough research online of all the B&Bs on offer in the area we were so glad that we chose Hillsfield House - the best B&B in Renwick!

Surrounded by New Zealand's finest wineries, Hillsfield House offers outstanding B&B accommodation. We stayed in the charming Loft, beautifully furnished with every comfort catered for, and where attention to detail has reached a quality we have not experienced before. Our host, Jo, truely thinks of everything to ensure guest's comfort and not least is the beautifully served and presented breakfast right in the Loft itself so that guests can re
lax in their dressing gowns if they wish.
Well situated for the vineyards and great restaurants there is even a wonderful Chocolate factory very nearby, and of course the everpresent gorgeous New Zealand countryside is all around.

We very much enjoyed our one night stay at Hillsfield House. We arrived very late after a day of touring the wine country and found delicious cake, strawberries (grown on site!) and coffee/tea waiting for us. What a great way to end the day. The room was very comfortable and private. The hosts delivered a great breakfast the next morning at the time we requested. Before departing we had a nice tour of the beautiful property courtesy of Jo, and we got to meet and hand-feed some of the resident alpaca herd. We had a lovely, albeit short, time and hope to have the opportunity to visit in the future!

It has taken us a while to get around to writing this review, however we were reminded when recommending this place to friends.

Hillsfield house sets the bar for all other B&B's to follow. It gives meaning to the phrase 'going above and beyond'.
My husband and I had a 3 night stay at Hillsfield house on our honeymoon. Thankfully our visit was towards the end of our trip, as pretty much all of our other accommodation could not compete with Hillsfields overall quality.

We knew we were in for a good stay when a week prior to our arrival Jo sent us an email to see if we wanted her to book us a table for dinner as restaurants were filling up due to the wine festival. This was only the start of the wonderful service Jo offered us throughout our days there.

Main things worth mentioning about Hillsfield;
- The room is beautiful. It is not very often you see 'country' themes executed successfully, but Jo has managed a wonderful balance that delivers a modern yet incredibly comfortable and inviting interior.
- Breakfast is so yummy and refreshing
- Great location. We borrowed the bikes on offer and had a fantastic afternoon cycling around the wineries.
- Above all else... JO! The most helpful, enthusiastic host we have ever had. Her sunny disposition is contagious. It is hard for any other B&B to compete without her.

We HIGHLY RECCOMMEND a visit to this area of New Zealand and equally reccommend that you try to stay at Hillsfield house.

Fingers crossed we get the chance to visit again.
