“A gem...”

The Hillsfield House was one of our three favourite B&Bs during our three week holidays in New Zealand. The hosts are extremely nice and helpful - the breakfast contains a marvellous fruit platter. The (only) room is located in a separate buidling and very cosy. The B&B is located right between wonderful wineries. We liked the area even more than Blenheim (where we stayed the following day). Highly recommended B&B!

From the moment we arrived we felt pampered. Jo welcomed us with afternoon tea in our beautifully decorated room - soft colours, relaxing music , a very comfortable bed, everything we could want even down to the lovely soap and toiletries - we could not ask for more. We stayed three nights and Jo was helpful in suggesting restaurants and activites. She even lent us bikes so that we could pedal around the wineries. These were our last three days in New Zealand and they were perfect. Hillsview House is the perfect place to base your stay in the Marlborough Wine region.

I went on a 10 day south island trip with my sister, and out of all the places we stayed at, Hillsfield House was the most luxurious and well-catered. You didn't need to ask for anything because it was all there for you, and there were many small treats that made it extra special. The host, Jo, was lovely and made us feel very comfortable. To top it all off, you are surrounding by local wineries and lovely scenery, to give it a rather European feel. I highly recommend you stay here, you won't regret it!

We feel very lucky to have experienced this B&B. It was immaculately set up, with incredible attention to detail and I can't immagine being made more welcome. Jo really went out of her way to ensure we had all we wanted, even down to researching and booking our restaurant and offering to drive us there if we wanted to drink. Thank you Jo for making us feel so welcome - and the good conversation as well.

We were somewhat late in arranging accommodation in Marlborough, and when we called Jo on the morning of the day we needed a place to stay she was just about booked out. However, while she could only take us for that night, she used her extensive network to help us sort out the next few nights! What a legend.
The room was really lovely with a relaxed, gentle vibe and birdsong just outside the windows. The breakfast was fabulous, and Jo's hospitality was flawless. Although we only stayed one night, we could have very happily stayed longer!
Make sure you check out the garden, river, and tiny horses!
BTW, if you are wondering whether Renwick is too far from Blenheim, don't wonder. They are so close together that it makes very little practical difference unless you are walking.

Jo is an English girl married to a Kiwi. She is the consummate host who has thought of everything and then more. The Loft room was spacious, spotlessly clean & comfortable. Little details like a decanter of sherry to sip whilst eating carrot cake + interesting magazines to read on the country. There is complete privacy to come an go which is another plus. The breakfast is a huge array of fruit, yoghurt with croissants with coffee or tea. A full sized bath combined with thick towels was appreciate.

Can recommend the Auntsfield wine tour held at 10am. It is a little out of the way but well worth the effort as it incorporates the history of the region as well as tasting gorgeous wines.

Check with Jo for where to eat at night as rather a lack of decent restaurants around.

We stayed only one night, but the accommodations were cozy, clean, comfortable and the hosts couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The location is perfect for sampling the local wineries or feasting at Herzog's. I would stay here again if I make it back to Marlborough!
