We must echo a previous review of "if your itinerary doesn't allow you to stay here, change your itinerary". Tiny details were seen to throughout our stay including: two temperatures of wine glass in our room, afternoon tea, local toiletries, generous breakfasts, and the inclusive bike hire.

All the reviews are gushingly positive, and Jo and Steve deserve them, they couldn't do enough to help and were so friendly and thoughtful, kicking off our honeymoon with great style.

It was a shame we could only stay for two nights!

We were spoiled to stay with Jo and Steve for 3 nights on our recent holiday around the South Island. They are truly outstanding hosts, and made us feel so welcome. Their helpfulness started with several emails to help select the right room for us, then Jo sent in advance really helpful tourist information so we could plan our stay. And then a thank you email a few days after our return home! They truly took an interest in us and our travel plans, and made great suggestions for the local area. We loved the cozy room, great breakfasts, and the attention to the smallest details to make our stay so comfortable. We stayed in the Courtyard (downstairs) room which had lovely views over the grounds, a comfortable sofa and small dining table for breakfast. Do borrow the bikes for some leisurely rides around the vineyards and back roads of Renwick! Thank you Jo and Steve, for making us feel so welcome. We hope to see you again soon!

My new husband and I just returned from our honeymoon to New Zealand, which was a two week adventure all across the North and South islands. During our trip, we stayed in numerous B&Bs and motels, but without a doubt, Hillsfield House was our best stay of the trip. I wish we had had more than two nights! If you're traveling the South island, you *must* stay here!!

The room was impeccably clean, the house was beautiful, the amenities were unbeatable, and the hosts were the warmest you can find. Jo and Steve hand deliver a freshly made breakfast to your room every morning -- and please, please order the croissants because they were the best croissants we've ever had. In a country where most of the B&B reviews mention the great hospitality of the hosts, we can honestly say Jo and Steve were the best. Jo has a natural warmth that makes you feel like both an honored guest and a long-lost family member all at the same time! They gave us excellent dinner recommendations, and Steve even drove us to dinner in his classic car, which was one of the highlights of our trip and made us feel totally "Downton Abbey" posh.

Also, the house is located right in the middle of Marlborough wine country, and your stay comes with free bike rental to the vineyards (this makes for a really good deal, because bike rental is not necessarily cheap, so packaging it with your night's accommodation is very budget friendly). The closest vineyard is less than five minutes away, and you can easily fill a day of tastings and only visit a fraction of the vineyards close to the house. (Even though it is a little farther out, we definitely recommend checking out Spy Valley's cellar door!)

All in all, our stay was top-notch. Our only regret was not having another day to wake up to those croissants!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Courtyard room, which was very quiet. It was also the farthest from the main house...

I can't say enough good things about my stay at Hillsfield House. It came on the recommendation of a friend who had stayed before. My priority was biking from winery to winery, which HH lets you do for free when you stay with them. Plus, several vineyards are within 20 minutes biking distance. If you had to bike in from Blenheim that would be way too far. HH is perfectly located for that.

I have never, ever stayed a cleaner hote/B&B. It was so nice and the little touches like ginger cookies with milk are a nice touch. Jo & Steve are super friendly.

The price was absolutely right for everything you get. If you're coming to this region to visit wineries, there is really no other place for you to stay.

We stayed at Hillsfield House during our trip around New Zealand's South Island. I cannot fault the experience, the property was immaculately turned out, and ideally situated for visiting the nearby wineries for a day of wine-tasting. The associated Wine Tour By Bike service, which is available from Hillsfield House was the perfect way to gently cycle from vineyard to vineyard, sampling the (excellent) local tipple.

Jo and Steve, the owners, are what really made the stay special, though. They were exceptionally warm and helpful, giving us some useful tips on which of the many wineries would be good to visit, and place to eat for lunch and dinner - both of which ranked among the best meals we had during our Honeymoon.

Included in the cost of our stay was a night in the Loft Room, which was a lovely, cosy place to stay. The price also included bike rental for both of us, and a good, fresh breakfast in the morning. All in all, we felt it represented really good value for money.

In a nutshell, if you are planning on staying in the Blenheim/Renwick area, we would strongly recommend giving Hillsfield House a try, you will not regret it!

Hillsfield House and proprietors/hosts, Jo and Steve, were fabulous. This is a superb accommodation, comfortable, friendly, excellent value for money and a must if the Marlborough Region is in your itinerary. Dinner reservations, suggested wine tours, delicious breakfasts....all come as standard. Book here and you won't be disappointed! Look at the reviews - it is outstanding!

My wife and I stayed two nights in the Loft, this was our first B&B and it tick all the boxes and even created new ones.Jo and Steve were exceptional hosts from the second we arrived .They were warm friendly and very welcoming. They met us at the car and Jo greeted us with hugs(that sold me right away). They were very helpful in providing directional information and supply maps.We enjoyed the relaxing setting and enjoyed touring the yard and seeing the pets and visiting with Twiggy.
The setting was perfect and breakfast in the morning was one time and was beautifully presented. If you are looking for B&B this is the perfect setting.and the finest hosts.
