Hillsfield House Bed and Breakfast Marlborough
Ranked #1 of 8 Renwick B&B and Inns

Hillsfield House is a beautiful place to stay and Jo, who is so friendly and helpful, is a really great host. Jo provides lots of helpful information about the area and restaurants etc making it very easy to decide what to do and where to go. The B&B has a great location, only minutes away via bike, which are provided for guests' use free of charge, from many of the great Marlborough vineyards (e.g Wairau River, Gibson Bridge to name only two) and a couple of minutes from Renwick. The courtyard room was charmingly decorated in a traditional country house style, was like a 5 star hotel room, with lounge area and even a four poster bed. Jo provides a menu for selecting your preferences for a very generous continental breakfast (croissants with local honey and jams and the fruit platter were great) served in your room. Also have to thank Jo for the huge and yummy packed lunch she made us for our day’s cycling in the Charlotte Sounds. Cannot recommend staying at the Hillsfield House highly enough, so glad we picked this B&B for our 3 night stay and surely the only place to stay in Marlborough! Thanks again for your warmness and kindness Jo!

We enjoyed our brief stay at Hillsfield House and would thoroughly recommend other travellers to the Marlborough region to sample the quality accommodation with friendly genuine hosts. Loved the breakfast, the grounds and a great meal at the Herzog vineyard. Well done Jo and Steve, hope to return one day

Jo and Steve are friendly and helpful hosts. The cottage is charming with lots of extra touches such as fresh lavender on the pillows and carrot cake left for afternoon tea. There are multiple windows that can be opened with outlooks onto the garden. It is very private with ample space. Breakfast is plentiful and tasty. Jo gave us lots of good recommendations for meals and wine tastings. We had amazing food and wine experiences and thought Hillsfield House was very good value indeed! Thanks so much for ensuring our stay exceeded our expectations.

We loved staying in the beautifully appointed Loft. The big vase of white roses was much appreciated. Nothing seemed too much trouble, and the beautifully presented breakfasts made a great start to he day.

The two nights we spent here were definitely the best in New Zealand!

The house and the two rooms are beautiful and very tastefully decorated by Steve and Jo. It has all the comfort of the New Zealand modernity with a touch of a very elegant English style. Our upstairs room was beautiful, spacious, with an additional living area making it more a suite than a room. Everything is spotless clean and linen as well as toiletteries products are amazing.

The breakfast is an experience in itself..the croissants are delicious, even for French people like us:) and the fresh fruits and fresh orange juice a wonderful start for the day!!

No doubt the top of the stay is Jo, the loveliest person we have met during our trip in NZ. For some reason our booking had not reached her so us knocking at her door at 7h30 pm was clearly a surprise, however, she welcomed us so warmly and instantly made us feel home. She gave us tips, recommendations on restaurants and wineries, made booking for us and even looked after our laundry. All this with an irresistible and communicative smile and joy! We loved her!!! Leaving was just too sad...hopefully we will come back one day!!

Thank you ever so much for such a fantastic stay!!

We stayed at Hillsfield House for a 3 nights while exploring the Marlborough wine region. On first arriving we were made to feel very welcome. We stayed in the courtyard room, which was a large room with a lovely bed (see picture). They was plenty of seating so you could relax after a long day out wine tasting. As it was Saturday when we arrived first thing Jo wanted to do was sort for us a restaurant for dinner that night, so we could get in to one of the better ones. The next day at Breakfast we found what we was going to do that day was not possable, no soner was Jo on the phone arranging for us to change our wine tasting to that day. When we arrived home they was cake waiting for afternoon tea, not only that, knowing that we was unable to drive went out of her way to get some takaway for us that night. Notthing was too much trouble. The Breakfast was a very large plate of fresh fruit, cerial and toast, which set us up nice for each day. They is a nice winnery right next door as well. We have done a number on B&B over many years and this is the best we have ever stayed in. All the other reviews are true simply the BEST

Room Tip: They is only 2 rooms we had the one down stairs
