We stopped at BigSky en route from Te Anau to Blenheim. We sent a booking in at about 9pm and arrived 15 minutes later - despite our short notice, Kay was ready for us! The room was lovely, clean, and comfortable. It had a very nice bathroom and opened out into the garden. Her garden is beautiful and breakfast was delicious. There are only two units and they are separate from the main house - connected through the interior garden only - so it feels very private. We are not sure what other lodging in Omarama has to offer, but my guess is that if you are looking for a place that is a cut above the rest, the place to stay is BigSky.

Having people stay who are as lovely as you two were makes my job very enjoyable. Keep safe and well - hope to see you next time you are in New Zealand

We stopped off here for one night. The room was immaculately presented and had everything we needed. The owners were really helpful and friendly and made us feel really welcome and at home. Breakfast was lovely too. Will certainly stay here again if we are back in the area.

What a great couple, two mates on a bike tour of the South Island had bike problems and were desperate for a place to stay and Kay & Hank were kind enough to open their doors when they wanted the night off for NYE celebrations. Even more than that they invited us to join them as everything was shut by 7pm. We had a wonderful evening with a bunch of other bikers. Very special

We arrived early and drenched & muddy from cycling in the pouring rain from Lake Ohau. Kay welcomed us warmly and made it easy for us to clean up...and even made the sun come out! Our room was beautiful with a very comfortable bed, great shower, TV, fridge etc - everything we could want. Breakfast was great and we enjoyed talking to Kay and Hank. We would have enjoyed spending longer here and recommend it highly to others.

What a pleasure to find this place to stay after a long cycle ride from Lake Ohau on the Alps2O cycle track. A delightful room with all the amenities you could need, tea, coffee, fridge and a fantastic shower. A warm welcome and splendid breakfast made for a memorable stay, thank you Kay and Hank.

Thank you Kay and Hank for looking after us whilst we recouped and recharged our batteries.
We loved the room and amenities, having a fridge to chill our cheese, and wine glasses for our Pinot Noir, with the room also having its own heatpump we were able to chill or heat to our own liking. I have popped your book in the mail to you, thank you for letting me borrow it; you have quite the collection. Didnt end up in the hammock; a must for next time.
Cant wait to go back for some children-free time out in our little corner of NZ, maybe try Gliding.
Thank you :)

Room Tip: Either of the units would be good; both have private entry and access to the garden/courtyard.

We enjoyed a wonderful weekend in Omarama staying with Kay and Hank in their lovely B&B. Our unit had a separate entrance we could use when we wanted to plus an entrance to a private courtyard garden where we could relax. We will need to go back to get used to the hammock! The unit was spotlessly clean, well appointed and very comfortable. Kay and Hank are charming hosts and happy to provide information about things to do. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
