we stayed 1 night in standard cabin and that was very basic but also the cheapest overnight we made in NZ. Nice camping and friendly staff. We went to the hotel at the opposite side of the holiday park and we took a brunch meal (cheap and a lot of food).

Room Tip: the tippy houses are basic

We stayed here for one night and found the accommodation excellent and very central for visiting other nearby places such as Benmore Hydro Station also it is very close to going through to Mount Cook.

A large open space and a great campsite. The play area was brilliant and great for young children to play on! It is a lovely Top 10 in the country side to be at when you are on holiday!
Good internet room and nice facilities and staff. Great value for money. Rabbits fancy it too! When we went there, the morning sunshine was reflecting on over 7 rabbits!

We booked the deluxe cabin at this holiday park. A standard cabin only has beds and a heater, but the deluxe cabin has a refrigerator and cooking equipment as well. That means using the communal kitchen if you need to cook anything more than toast and tea. We cooked dinner here and enjoyed eating it on a picnic table outside.

The bed was good, and there was plenty of cooking gear in the cabin and in the communal kitchen area. The communal toilets and shower were clean and well-maintained. The park was reasonably quiet, considering that it is right on the highway. Of course, any place you would stay in Omarama would be right on the highway - it is a very small town.

We came into town on our bicycles and rode them back to the river to go for a short dip during the afternoon. The water was clear and cool.

Room Tip: They have 'ensuite' units (with toilet/shower) and standard cabins, so you have a choice abo...

We booked a deluxe motel room here and were extremely happy with its facilities, everything spotlessly clean (bedding, cooking facilities). The owners, who had only been there 6 weeks or so (hailing from Nelson) were cheerful and very helpful. We found the WiFi facilities in a small shed nearby very well set out and flexible for the user. We had a pleasant walk by the river at the back of the which the owner had told us about. A well-run site embracing a good barbecue area and nearby re-cycling provision. Would definitely stay here again when back in New Zealand.

We paid NZD 110 for "motel accommodation" on this campsite. We didn´t expect too much, so were not disappointed that the place was dated and grubby. However, the lock on the sliding doors was broken and we couldn´t lock the room, so we brought it to the attention of the proprietors, who at first wouldn´t believe it and seemed to be quite exasperated. Their attitude initially was, "...well we can´t do anything about it, so you can have your money back!" I explained that finding alternative accommodation wasn´t easy in a one-horse town like Omarama. I then suggested that while we were at the restaurant later that evening, I could pack all our luggage into our car, as it had a lock that worked! For the inconvenience, I suggested that a 50% discount wouldn´t be too much. He said he´d have to ask the boss (his wife). About 15 minutes lates he returned with a spare part he said he´d taken from his own house lock and 30 minutes later, repaired our lock. It´s amazing how the effect of a possible loss in income can motivate some people to think. Did he apologise for the inconvenience caused to us or offer any gesture of good will? Of course not! The "free wi-fi" is advertised as 50 MB or half an hour. Although I had 44 MB left, after 20 minutes, my allowance was exhausted. Avoid this place!

We used this Top 10 site for a one night stopover between Fairlie and Oamaru , having visited Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki en route. The site is pleasantly located between a small stream and the main road, although there is insufficient traffic to cause a problem.

The staff are friendly and helpful whilst the facilities are very clean and well maintained.

The only disappointment was that, although there is a caravan storage area demarcated on the site plan, many of the 'regular' pitches were clearly being used as storage pitches and this led to a clear reduction in those available for general use and by 6pm motor vans were cruising around the site attempting to find an available space when many very nice pitches were apparently being used for storage.
