Promised so much, great setting. But let down by staff. Not overly busy but staff just seemed to be having a bad day. Food arrived very fast and was nice coffee took ages and was put down abruptly but was OK.

Stopped for morning tea and the Merchant looked appealing. The scone was delicious and served warm. Shame our coffee came out 15 minutes later. My long black coffee tasted ok but didn't have a "crema". Others who arrived after us were served first. Matter of fact staff. A warm welcome and smile would have gone a long way to improving the experience

We chose The Merchant randomly when we stopped in Clyde. We were very pleased that we did. Lovely tea - tea of the day is a great idea, but the highlight was the chicken & vegie pastie - absolutely delicious. We will come back in summer so we can enjoy the courtyard!

This is a great cafe to stop for brunch or a quick lunch. Local made food and products for sale in the shop and great tasting food and awesome coffee.

Great outside seating area and play area for the kids.

A very popular location. Excellent breakfast but service was sluggish. Coffee is excellent and food wholesome.
