“Still a beautiful place to snorkel and dive”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

she still has alot of beauty about her,but over the years she has become a bit tierd with tourist and locals not abiding to the rules of leaving shell fish in the area, she still provides a little further out for divers, but snorkellers, may only get a glimpse of the beauty she once had, still a very popular spot amongst a few people though

“A lovely unspoilt area”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

This is a great place for the occasional snorkeller. There are plenty of places to hire gear from. It 's a safe place to snorkel but there is still plenty to see. All around there are noticeboards with picture of the marine life so you can come back to shore for the odd rest and to learn the names of what you've seen. All in all an excellent day out

“Great when not high season”
Reviewed September 8, 2012

This is an awesome place to see the marine life up close but it's popularity in summer draw massive crowds. You will see lots of fish up close & great snorkelling. If you are not keen on being sandwiched on top of one another don't go on a summer weekend & check tides as at full tide even less room. Be prepared to walk a bit carrying your picnic etc.

“An old favorite”

Goat Island makes a great day trip from Auckland. If you can, get out on the water in a glass-bottomed boat. Fun - great for kids. It's a cool spot to picnic and an easy drive there and back.

“Wow”
Reviewed August 31, 2012

Amazing place. The fish come up really close to the shore. Sometimes people feed them, but this isn't actually allowed. There is a glass bottom boat that does trips out to see the fish - well worth it. Not a good place for buggies or the less able bodied however as lots of rocks to walk over.
If you can, avoid a sunny weekend or a sunny school holiday day as its packed.
