The seafood hot pot and fish of the day, snapper was absolutely delicious. The service was great, but give the dark ale a miss.

I had a lovely meal of seafood stir-fry full of fish, scallops, squid and prawns. It was in a lovely Thai curry sauce with kaffir lime leaves and other herbs. Absolutely delicious!

On a recent trip to tairua my son and I were turned away three times over a period of three days because a bus tour was either showing up, was already there or had just left.
The final time was the day we were leaving as it was right across the road from our hotel we wandered over at 7.55 am for a coffee and was rudely told by the guy behind the counter that they weren't open till 8 even though there were 3 locals drinking coffee outside and that they were not able to serve us anyway as a bus tour had just left??? open at 8 except for bus tours all we wanted was a coffee.
good luck getting one.

Thanks for your feedback.

Firstly, I would like to point out that there were no 'locals' having coffee as you state, they were in fact, staying at the same facility you described and were waiting patiently for the cafe to open at 8am as stated by both staff and advertising.

As there was some cleanup to do after a large group breakfast the staff explained to those early patrons and yourself, the need to take just a few short minutes to clean up.

Staff correctly believed it better to inform customers of the short delay rather than attempting to serve you in a mess, and they have our full support in this.

The staff member you refer to is a highly valued member of our staff with a vast amount of knowledge and experience in hospitality and is well respected within the industry.

I am sorry that you didn't quite get the experience you were looking for.
We are always looking for ways to improve and all customer feedback is valuable.

We had lunch here and impressed, decided to bring the family back for dinner. They advised us there would be a 40 minute wait, given the unexpected late summer rush, but we are so glad we decided to wait, Our five different mains were all delicious, and beautifully presented. Despite being so busy, the staff were friendly, polite, and happy to accomodate my dietary needs. I would particularly recommend the lemon infused beer- truly the nicest summer alcoholic refresher you could imagine. A beach playground is viewable from the outdoor seating area, so your kids can play safely while you relax and wait for your meal.
