I stayed in a "Waterfront Upper Level Deluxe Unit" for one night while in Auckland on business. The outlook across the water from the balcony of the first floor unit was very pleasant and the location is handy if you want to catch the Halfmoon Bay ferry into the city instead of driving. The managers were very welcoming and a gift basket with some snacks was provided with the unit.

However, I thought that the complex was tired and the unit was in poor condition relative to my expectations (which were based on photos on the motel's web site, other Trip Advisor reviews and the pricing of the unit relative to other Auckland accommodation I've stayed in). By way of example: the furniture throughout the unit was dated; one of the down lights in the lounge ceiling had what appeared to be a plastic bag stuffed in it (I assume the light fitting was malfunctioning - if so, then my view is that an electrician should have been called in to fix it before the room was let); the carpet was threadbare in a couple of places in the lounge; and brute force was required to open and close some of the aluminium windows in the unit.

Notwithstanding the location, the outlook and the service (all of which were good) I wouldn't stay at this motel complex again until such time as it has been renovated.

My wife and I stay at this motel at least once or twice per year. We believe it to be the best motel in the Auckland Area
Margy and Roger really look after their guests and nothing is too much trouble
Rooms are very spacious and spotlessly clean
A real pleasure to stay here

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent Value

We stayed in one of the rear units that may be older than the front ones. Yes they were dated and a little 'tired' but everything worked and the bed was comfortable. A welcome basket had some snacks in it - that was a nice touch. It was pouring with rain and the undercover parking adjacent to the unit was great for unloadng and loading your luggage.
It was a little hot upstairs where the bed is located on a kind of mezzanine floor but there was a fan provided. The pictures on the website did raise ones expectations, but perhaps the front untis area bit more modern.

On arrival they couldn't do enough for us, very welcoming, and helpful. Room a nice size but in urgent need of a spruce up, curtains had holes in, rust in bathroom, woodwork damaged and dented, old furniture. There was an iron and ironing board in the room and hairdryer, but on whole of site only one washing machine and dryer, about a 25min walk from ferry, very picturesque, and only 30min ferry ride from Auckland centre, but if driving then approc 1hrs from centre. Not the best value for money we experienced.
