We made a great choice when we chose to spend six days at The Church Accommodation in a chalet with a small area of bush close by. A special feature was what appeared to be our own performing tui. This accommodation is very central for visiting sights around Cathedral Cove, Hahei, Whenuakite and Hot Water Beach. The stay was most relaxing with no TV or radio except in the Guests' Lounge beside reception. Our hostess was very helpful and the rate most reasonable.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay at The Church and thankyou for your positive feedback. As you say the tuis are at home in our gardens and more recently we have native wood pigeons in our Puriri trees and regularly have blue herons on the Church restaurant roof. The studio you chose (a block of 4 units ) are our only units without TV's.Our other cottages all have them and we have our guest lounge TV available to all ,with sports and all other channels.
We hope your trip home went well.We all are hoping for some much needed rain soon,as you probably are too.

Hahei is one of our favourite destinations and "The Church" is a wonderful place to stay. It is always clean, quiet and comfortable in a beautiful garden setting. The staff are always so nice and helpful and make you feel so welcome. And unlike most other accommodation in NZ that want to charge you the earth, they have kept their rates really reasonable. They are within walking distance from Hahei beach and Cathedral Cove. Anyone who hasn't been to Hahei should definitely make this a priority. We look forward to going back very soon!!

Room Tip: We have been happy with every room that we have stayed in.

We stayed here recently for a friends wedding which was taking place on Cathedral cove beach. This is a great place to stay, lovely rooms, quirky and full of character. We loved the little gardens around each unit. This not a place for those who want characterless modern hotel rooms.

The breakfast is well worth it, its rare to find a breakfast for such a good price with such good quality food and plenty of it.

We're looking forward to staying here again on one of our frequent trips to the Coromandel

The Chjurch is in fact relocated church. Very nice restaurants. Rooms very neat and clean. But again taps as every where we went in NZ, a reminescence oif the 50-ties. hjet tap and sput on the right and cold tap with sput on the left. It become after a while kinde of funny.
Hot Water Beach recompesate for luck of spa or souna. Location and garden swurrounding like a dream. Booking essential, and is worthed. Watch out for those parking space tiefs, we were deprived by one of the co-locators (from unit 1).
Bring with you a small sp[-ade or buy it in the locak store (15.00 NZ$) if you want to go to the Hat Water Beach , which is a MUST!!!
We will be back there.....

Room Tip: all are really good... Watch out for unit ( Studio) No. 5. In summer sun will wake you up around 5 a...

A set of cottages in the grounds of a church which has been converted to a restaurant provide good accomadation in this little NZ holiday town. There were complimentary Christmas Plums (a lovely sweet fruit tree that produces lots of purple fruit in time for Xmas) on the counter when we checked in, and the spades for digging a hole for swimmers to wallow in at low tide at nearby Hot Water Beach were responsible for a good first impression. In addition, there was the adjacent restaurant, operated separately from the Cottages providing a creative evening menu and good wines; a reasonable bus trip to the seaside walkways giving access to DoC maintained paths through bush reserves; a great general store in town which has available almost everything you need to eat or drink for your Cottage stay; a good surf beach, and a neat art gallery with reasonable prices and an extensive selection of creations produced primarily by local artists. This is a place you can spend a few days relaxing in traditional Kiwi style during your summer holidays.

I used to love to stay here 12 years ago when I lived in New Zealand and visiting again was a special treat. the only downside was that we couldn't stay longer. It is a wonderful, quiet place to stay and I have never stayed anywhere like it. The owners could not be more helpful and the separate cottage was everything we needed. A gem of a place and can't wait to stay again.

We stayed in the Church Cottages while exploring the Coramandel Peninsula. It was a very nicely outfitted room and was very comfortable. The cottages are nicely situated for privacy and have nice porches in order to spend time reading or enjoying a cup of coffee.
