“A must do Kiwi experience”

Thanks for such an amazing day last week. I've been a lot of amazing places around the world and can't believe I hadn't been to this area and done this trip until yesterday when it was so close to where I grew up. It certainly is one of the top expriences on my list and a must do for Kiwis!Disocvering the caves and tunnel on the Volcanic Coast tour in the morning was incredible, unbeatable lunch spot on Hahei beach, and the Cathedral Cove tour in the afternoon complete with dolphin chasing and pop up cafe at the bay serving deliciuos hot choc made for an exceptioanlly memorable day.

“Our guide made all the difference”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2013

We really wanted to kayak to Cathedral cove but the waves were pretty big so we were offered the alternative to kayak to Cooks Beach instead. While the kayaking is probably not as scenic to Cooks beach, we really enjoyed the company, stories and knowledge of our guide Jinny (or was it Jenny?). She also makes a fantastic flat white and hot chocolate as well. Loved the silver tea service on the beach! We ended up talking the walking route to Cathedral Cove later in the day so didn't feel like we missed out on too much.

The only downside I should mention is that when the kayaks were first offloaded from the trailer and onto the beach they were really sandy - the crew wiped them down before we got into them but I thought it would make a better first impression if the kayaks were delivered already clean. Just sayin'

Many thanks for your great review! Glad to hear that you were well looked after by Ginney, she'll be very happy to read your comments. We would have loved to kayak to Cathedral Cove with you but with your safety our main priority the big surf meant it was not possible. Thanks for the feedback about some sand on the kayaks. When we have to move our operation to Cooks Beach the kayaks are loaded onto trailers and unloaded at the destination. Sometimes sand from the bottom of kayaks on the top racks falls onto kayaks below during transit, it is pleasing to hear the kayaks were cleaned for you before the trip commenced. Thanks again for taking the time to review your experience and we'll see you next time!

“A great time on our tour of Cathedral Cove”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

My husband, daughter, and son-in-law had a great time with Hayden on our kayak tour around the cove. Our guide was knowledgeable, engaging, and made it a great afternoon. The coffees during our stop at the beach really hit the spot.

“Cracking Kayak tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2013

Went on this kayak trip on 31st March. It was oh for awesome. They only take eight of you in one trip (between four double kayaks) so it feels personal. Haydn, our guide was the font of knowledge from the Maori history, the geology of the place and all the flora and fauna. We did a large circle tour out to an island and round to Cathedral Cove and back to Hahei Beach. It was amazing - the sea is so clear and the scenery breathtaking. He had us canoeing between rocks and through a cave. At Cathedral Cove he whipped out coffee and hot chocolate making stuff along with biscuits.
I highly recommend this tour and if I have time, I'll go back and do a full day trip.

“I want to do this again...Amazing trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2013

Four of us went on this trip (including my retired parents-in-law) and LOVED it.This trip is excellent.

First off, the introduction to kayaking from the friendly guides on the beach really put us novices at ease.

First we kayaked about 5kms, across the crystal clear ocean, around the little islands in Hahei until we got to Cathedral Cove. All along the way our guide Cam was telling us about the history of the area, and also taking us through little short cuts and fun routes through the islands.

When we got to Cathedral Cove, Cam got our tea & coffee and biscuits ready, while we explored the beautiful beach setting that is Cathedral Cove.

On the way back to Hahei, our guide took us all along the shore line, where we could see the shoreline up close.

I would really reccommend this trip, regardless of your ages or fitness levels. It was brilliant.
