This is a great way to explore the bays & islands, including Cathedral Cove where Narnia was filmed, up close and you will definitely get some stunning photos. The guide takes time to point out various marine & bird life as well as explaining the significance of some of the islands.Suitable for all ages. Make sure you wear sun-screen!

The Coromandel is certainly a beautiful place, Cathedral Cove, Stingray Bay and all the surrounding area especially but you can only see so much from land. The Hahei Explorer is an excellent way to get off shore to the islands and inlets of this spectacular piece of coastline that you would not be able to see otherwise. The boat comfortably seats 8 and Quentin is a knowledgeable guide showing you around the caves, islands and blowholes, giving you a history as you go and pointing out all the wildlife in the water and the sky...everything from Penguins to Stingrays, Shags to Orcas.
This trip is brilliant and i would recommend it to anyone and everyone, be sure to book as i guess it gets quite busy in the summer. I booked at the surf shop in Hahei but you can book at Top Ten campsite and most of the guesthouses in the area.

From the moment you clamber through the water to board the pontoon you know this is going to be a great experience .Excellent safety minded operaters who provide very informative commentary throughout the ride .Across the water in and out of tunnels and caves ,up close to towering cliff faces.
We even spotted a blue eyed penguin and a couple of species of fish.
The ride goes for an hour and at $75 it initially seemed expensive ,however if you really want to see Cathedral Cove and many other attractions in quick time the Hahei Explorer is the way to go. As we got off the pontoon we looked at each other and said that was worth every cent we paid.
The hour you are out there is the right length of time ,the Hahei Explorer clips along at a merry speed and in that time you will see everything you want to see.

Anyone who has eyes knows New Zealand is an incredibly beautiful place, but add the power of mother nature crashing into the volcanic rock caves and a guide with a happy disposition and great sense of humour ... now thats value for money.

What a terrific day out. The boat holds 8 so you're not overwhelmed by people and cameras. Its comfortable even in slightly bumper waters.
Make sure you get the tide right because you won't want to miss the blow-hole. Just stunning. Thanx guys!
