Why we ever deliberated taking the long 40 minutes walk down to Cathedral Cove from the car park, I cannot understand. Other than a water taxi it's the only way to visit the cove. The views en-route are super but the cove itself is awesome. Lovely beaches, plenty of activity on the water, and to walk through the arch is a must do experience. The walk back up seemed easier than coming down, maybe because it had been so enjoyable. We would do it again.

We did the hike to CC. It wasn't as easy as we had pictured in our minds but nonetheless the scenery and views are totally worth the sweat. We went when the weather was not so hot so that made it easier. I would suggest taking the water taxi if you are able to if you are unable to walk that far. We did it with a six year old and he managed the steep parts ok.
Visiting here should be on everyone's bucket list. It's amazing!

Worth the walk. Sooooooo worth it. Not only will you recognise the inside of the cove from Macklemore's "Can't Hold Us", you'll fall over from the sheer beauty of this place.

Stop along the way at Stingray Bay for outrageously pretty isolation and green water with white cliffs surrounding you. And then carry on to the busier but more breathtaking Cathedral Cove.

It's a stunning walk. And the beach itself, with it's jaw dropping rock formations, will make you feel like you're in paradise.

Bring a picnic.

The track to Cathedral Cove is poor. In my opinion it is dangerous, very rough and slippery. Most other tracks we have been on in New Zealand have been of high quailty, but this one needs to be upggraded. At least have some metal on the steep, slippery and rough areas.

The best beauty spot in NZ. Lots of tourist come here now which is unfortunate sometimes for the locals. A suitable walk for most age groups but not for wheelchairs or tiny tots if they cant walk, can be a good cardiac workout for some .
