“Wellbeaten Track for a Good Reason”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2013

We got to Hahei in the late afternoon and got a carpark for Cathedral Cove. If you go a rush hour then be prepared to walk some distance or take a shuttle bus.Everyone comments on the 45 minute walk but the variety of visitors - very young to middle-aged seems to suggest it's manageable enough with no special gear or level of fitness. At times it was like main street! Once there we enjoyed the spectacular beach, sea views and the huge natural cathedral-shaped hole in the cliff with another breathtaking view through to the other side. What more can I say except it is a MUST SEE if you come this way.

“Gorgeous Place but Tough to Hike”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2013

It takes a 45-minute hike one way to get there. There are steep steps and rocky paths that you have to take to get there too. But once you reach the spot, it's worth it. Just make sure to bring at least 1 liter or more of water per person as you will get really thirsty on a hot day. Don't forget to bring a good camera too as it is the kind of place that you won't visit often especially if you live far away.

“Stunning!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2013

I loved the walk to this amazing beach. Yes, it's definitely a busy tourist attraction, but was still a spectacular spot to visit. Best to go early in the day because it is a 45 minute walk each way and you want plenty of time to enjoy the beach once you're there. There are toilets down by the beach so you can pack a lunch and enjoy it - as long as you don't mind how busy it is.

“BEAUTIFUL BEACH”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2013

We were not aware in advance that it was a 45 minute walk from the small car park at the start of the walk. The walk involves slopes and steps up and down (take water on a hot day). From 0945 there is a park & ride facility which is useful as the car park we used at 0930 is likely to be full later. The cove itself is best visited around low tide so you can walk through the church like arch. If you have time take your costume and have a dip in the sea.

“Postcard perfect.”

A beautiful white sand beach with stunning clear, blue water - just like the postcards and movies. We managed to paddle the canoe there with not much experience.
