We (2 adults, 2 children aged 8 and 12) walked into Cathedral Cove on an overcast day when the sea was quite rough.
I am glad that we walked, rather than kayaked (which had been my original plan, we are experienced kayakers). We saw some people in kayaks come in and land on the beach and it looked very rough and difficult (not to mention wet!). Kayaking with the children on this day would not have been enjoyable, so I am glad that we walked in and had a picnic on the beach. Not to mention the money we saved by doing so......
Several tourist boats approached the beach but none landed.
Having said all of the above, kayaking here in good weather and calm seas would be great, but unfortunately we were not blessed with this on the day we went.
The beach and arch are beautiful, but the water was far too rough for swimming when we went.
