“Think about the weather!!”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

We (2 adults, 2 children aged 8 and 12) walked into Cathedral Cove on an overcast day when the sea was quite rough.
I am glad that we walked, rather than kayaked (which had been my original plan, we are experienced kayakers). We saw some people in kayaks come in and land on the beach and it looked very rough and difficult (not to mention wet!). Kayaking with the children on this day would not have been enjoyable, so I am glad that we walked in and had a picnic on the beach. Not to mention the money we saved by doing so......
Several tourist boats approached the beach but none landed.
Having said all of the above, kayaking here in good weather and calm seas would be great, but unfortunately we were not blessed with this on the day we went.
The beach and arch are beautiful, but the water was far too rough for swimming when we went.

“Majestic”
Reviewed December 23, 2012

We got to the carpark for Cathedral Cove just as it was approaching sundown and to our surprise discovered that there was still an alleged forty-five minute walk to complete before we arrived at the cove itself. The walk was beautiful, although we did manage to cover the ground in about fifteen minutes (allbeit at a breakneck pace to make it before the light failed). The cove itself is amazing and well worth the visit. The arch towers above you as you stand inside its cavernous mouth and it is aptly named. The signs along the path that we read, as we made our way back, gave us all the information we needed on its formation as well giving both detailed and simple descriptions providing for all levels of understanding. As an added bonus it was incredibly quiet when we visited and aside from two other walkers we passed on the way down we were entirely on our own.

Wonderful walk along the coast and the only way to reach this secluded spot. Go before breakfast and see no-one.

“Beautiful place”

Great to see while sea kayaking. They served us hot chocolate half way, and our guide was really great and knowledgeable.
