Having looked on the internet for a day trip to the Hunter Valley we decided to go with Hunter Valley Boutique Wine Tours as they seemed to give a personal service and catered for individual needs. We were a party of 8, with ages ranging from 20 to 70+. Brian from Hunter Valley Boutique Wine Tours collected us from our hotel in Brighton Le Sands promptly as promised and we headed off to the Hunter Valley, he was very informative on the way to the region. Once there we were taken to 5 different cellars, each one offering something a little different to the others. Brian had arranged for the first cellar to provide an overall guide to wine tasting as well as an informative talk on the wines produced by their cellar & then the owners of the other cellars gave a talk on their own wines. At each cellar we tasted between 6 and 8 wines including red, white, rose, sparking and pudding wines. Boutique Tours had arranged for us to lunch at the Lindeman’s Restaurant and the lunch provided was exceptional with plenty for everyone. We were also taken for tasting to an olive produce shop, a chocolate shop & the smelly cheese shop. Brian was also very informative all throughout the day on his knowledge of wines and the region. At our last cellar we were lucky enough to see wild Kangaroos. At the end of the day Brian drove us back to our hotel in Brighton Le Sands. At no time during the day did we feel rushed and Brian definitely gave that personal touch that we hoped we would receive. We would like to thank Brian for such a great day out and for such an informative introduction to wine tasting, Eric really enjoyed the red wines, and the white wines, oh and the sparkling wines, he also enjoyed the rose wines and the pudding wines, I think they were all his favourite.
