We had a Saturday lunch here recently whilst visiting the region. I feel the restaurant was probably a little short staffed as we were seated for quite some time before anyone came near us with water and then it was a wait for our wine.
Having said that, our meals were fabulous. The servings are large and the food was lovely. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and we thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon.
The floor staff are friendly but busy and the only improvement would be to have 1 or 2 more floor staff as I did have to chase them for drinks and then our bill.

The setting and location was magnificent. The decor was probably Hunter Valley meets The Hamptons. At every corner, wall and table were grand yet subtle decorations in pale hues. The vase of long stemmed white roses on a nearby sideboard looked beautiful. Windows were thrown open to allow the breeze to fan patrons. Views were of rolling hills and grazing cows! Add to this starched white cloths and sparkling wine glasses and you get the mood. Food was amazing. We had the degustation menu for 10 and felt quite spoilt. The entrees to share didn't disappoint. Dishes combined fresh produce with a quite modern variety of garnishes - figs with Gorgonzola and prosciutto, gravlax served with blood orange segments and radicchio - and there were more. Mains were just as delightful - duck with red cabbage and peas, beef fillet with bacon and Bernaise sauce and more. Most of us had the quince tart tatin for dessert which had been prepared as individual single serves. It was off the planet! Whilst I haven't mentioned every dish served to our large table, the variety and attention to detail was brilliant. Can highly recommend.

Visiting the Hunter in February, our family of four adults took a drive and chanced upon Tallavera Grove Vineyard. Popping in for a wine tasting, we noticed on the other side of the very pretty courtyard … Bistro Molines. It was buzzing with lunch time diners all enjoying the fabulous view and delightful food.

Looking at the menu with smiles on our faces, a warm and friendly waitress asked if we had a booking. Explaining that we did not, but was there any chance we could be squeezed in, she advised she would see what could be done. In moments, a table had been procured and we were sat down to look at a million dollar view of rolling hills and vineyards from within a very attractive courtyard.

All our courses were delicious, but the standouts were
Crisp zucchini flowers filled with goats cheese, frisee salade and tomato aioli $26
Baked figs with gorgonzola wrapped in prosciutto with petite salade, gorgonzola cream $27
Fillet Mignon $40
Chocolat Fondant with hazlenuts, caramel ice-cream $17

I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anybody visiting the Hunter and wishing to have a memorable and special dining experience with beautiful surroundings, great service, warm and friendly staff and simply delicious food.

Not cheap, but truly great food and vistas never are!

I have no idea what the people are talking about who dissed this place. The staff was warm and friendly. The rabbit and rack of lamb were done to perfection. I don't like zucchini much, but I finished all on my place because it was so good. Yes, it is expensive, $40-45 per main, so save it for a special occasion. Add the view, and it's totally impressive.

Situated on country road, partly unsealed but well worth the drive.
Very picturesque indeed, lovely building with nice verandas where you can sit and have lunch whilst admiring the view.
