We visited Bistro Molines with a group and the service was excellent and the food simply amazing. With a view over the winery the atmosphere was perfect.

“Excellent restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2012

This restaurant lives up to its reputation. We went for a long Sunday lunch and the first thing you notice is the extremely friendly staff, followed by a great atmosphere and sensational view over the vineyards. The staffs friendliness was match by impeccable service, our waiter knew his wines and kept a constant eye on our table for the entire time. The restaurant’s owner has a big reputation for his cuisine and we were not disappointed, we had a table of ten and every single person was impressed with their foods presentation and quality. It was great way to spend a special occasion and would fully recommend it and will definitely return.

“Lovely setting, great entrees and dessert, but oh! those mains”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2012

Located near the top of Mount View Road, with views of Cessnock below, this should have been the ideal venue for a great night of excellent food and convivial company.

The French decor sets the scene with lovely arrangements of flowers dotted throughout the exterior and interior. The service was good and the ambience second to none.

Everyone agreed that the entrees were excellent. Those that had dessert also praised their dishes. However, the mains missed the mark. Not just my dish but most others. The duck was overcooked, the 'deboned' spatchcock was not as tender as one would have hoped considering it was poached, and the snapper was bland as it was served with tasteless potato and an uninspiring sauce.

The restaurant had its one hat status reinstated some years ago and certainly has prices to match with an average $28 for an entree, $40 for a main and $17 for a dessert!

You therefore have an expectation that every morsel will be divine. I have dined at many hatted restaurants and in many of them one achieves mouth-watering fulfilment. Therefore one doesn't mind paying the premium because it is value for money. Bistro Molines does not fit into this category.

“superb food in fabulous surroundings”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2012

What a treat! Six of us had a superb lunch with everything cooked to perfection, friendly service, top class wines and all in such beautiful surroundings, Looking east across the vineyards towards Cessnock.

We started with a platters of Whitebait and sweetbreads - absolutely superb and then various different dishes, lamb, duck, pork - all cooked & presented brilliantly with service that was always available but never intrusive. It isn't cheap but is worth a lot more than you pay.

Give yourself a treat and book a table
