We stayed 3 nights in August. It is an unique spot and the journey there is part of the experience, particularly the last leg in the man-powered canoe. The environment is pristine, and we had the fabulous Favian as our native guide. His skills in spotting the wildlife while paddling are incredible and in addition to many birds and animals, we were fortunate to have a great sighting of a jaguar, the first even for the guides in a long time! I agree with previous reviewers about the accommodation and hospitality. One of the special things about NWC is that it is a brilliant community project, involving local people and income supports health and education for the Kichwa people. We enjoyed our visit to the interpretation centre run by the women and explaining how things are done in a jungle village. An extra day or two would have been lovely! Definitely recommended for nature lovers, but remember there is no air conditioning and television!

Our family of five just returned from a two week trip to Ecuador that included a great trip to the Napo Wildlife Center. As others have said, it's a really good way to explore the Amazon Basin and see amazing wildlife in close proximity. We were prepared for a fairly spartan experience (particularly knowing that everything has to be brought to the lodge by canoe) but were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the lodging, food, and amenities. The huts are very large and nicely appointed (two new ones at the ends are if anything TOO nice, with minibars and jet-showers), the food is very good, and the staff is highly attentive to the guest's needs. My daughter had her 16th birthday the first night we were there and they made a nice b-day cake for her that really made the day special. Our guide Leyna (sp?) was very informative. The main lodge had wi-fi at a reasonable cost, and drinks were very reasonable ($3 beers). I would highly recommend Napo. Do be aware that the rainforest isn't Disneyland so bring bug spray and medications. The bugs aren't really a problem if you're reasonably diligent though everyone gets some bites.

We were lucky enough to have booked a three-night stay at the Napo Wildlife Centre in July 2012. Even the journey in to the Centre was an experience. The organisation of trips, visits and even the basic services was excellent. All staff were extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We both felt privileged to have been taken to see the stunning range of wildlife which exists in the rainforest by NWC. Our visit was an amazing and especially memorable part of our trip to Ecuador and we would recommend the NWC to any traveller to the country.

We LOVE NWC!! The guides (both of them), the food, and the overall experience was exceptional!!! To everyone at NWC--THANKS for making our anniversary so special and memorable!!! You guys are awesome! This was the trip of a lifetime! We really felt, from start to finish, that everyone cared that we had a wonderful time. The level of service is one of the many things that really makes NWC stand out. I am a vegetarian and the cooks had no problem accommodating me whatsoever!! We really cannot say enough great things! Add this place to do your travel bucket list--we are so glad we did!!!!
PS the night canoe trips are awesome! Don't miss them!

Room Tip: We stayed in suite 1 (the one with the Jacuzzi). Room was very large and the view was stunning!

The NWC was almost too good for words!!! The setting was beautiful on a lake in the middle of the rain forest. Even the 4 hour canoe trip (the first 2 hours in a motorized canoe, the second 2 hours in a paddle canoe...no motors allowed past a certain point) was fabulous. The staff at the lodge were wonderful (we all loved Marcelo!) the local guides were terrific (Pato, our "spotter" missed nothing!!) and our nature guide was very knowlegeable. The suites were roomy & nicely decorated & the food was good. The Napo Wildlife Center is owned & operated by the local people so in addition to having a fantastic experience, you are also helping to give back to the local community. On the excursions, we saw so many amazing creatures, including countless monkeys, birds, snakes, caimans, giant otters & of course, insects. My (adult) son was sick while there (nothing serious, just travellers tummy) & while the rest of us went out for the day exploring, the staff at the lodge checked on him & brought him tea without us even asking, just because they cared. My daughter does not eat red meat & they made sure (even on day trips) to have fish or chicken or a vegetarian choice for her. On trips, the lodge always sent along snacks for you, such as juice & crackers & fruit & water & they provided rain ponchos & rubber boots when needed. It truly was a trip of a lifetime!

My ONLY complaint is that the suites are all built traditionally (kinda) & while there was electricty & water (hot & cold) available 24 hours a day, the rooms are not really "sealed tight" & therefore the insects were able to make themselves at home in our rooms. The beds do have mosquito nets & obviously you do need to use Deet while in the middle of the rainforest anyway, there were more insects in our rooms than I liked. That said, anyone going to the rainforest should NOT stay anywhere else!!!

Room Tip: They are ALL good!!!
