Absolutely wonderful. Wished we had more time to spend there. beautiful setting and lodging. We got a package that included birding, food and lodging and the overall experience and value was well worth it. Highly recommend.

My wife and i stayed in Casa Divina in June 2013 during 4 nights just after our Galapagos cruise. We took 2 of the birding tours they offered us and it was a really excellent choice.

Efrain and Molly (the owners) were gave us an exceptional good treatment and assist us in all our needs and wishes. The food was great too! The rooms have a lot of hot water and a nice double bed. The room did not have tv, but if you are a birdo in Mindo, you don't need tv.

The highlight of the trip to Mindo of course was Casa Divina and all the bird photograph opportunities we had.

Room Tip: Since the hike in the tours are no strenuous, and all the bird photo opportunities around the hotel...

I am from Chicago, but currently live in Ecuador. My family and I travel all over the country and Casa Divina is our absolute favorite. There are gorgeous cabins nestled away from town, where you can relax on your cabin's porch in a hammock listening to the morning call of the tropical birds or soak in your tub for two, winding down after a day of mindo-filled adventures. The entire lodge was hand-built by the gracious owners, Molly and Effrain. The food is incredible from homemade chocolate cake for dessert to Molly's insane banana bread served with local fruit and eggs for breakfast. The service in Ecuador is lacking, but at Casa Divina Molly and Effrain really pamper you with exceptional service. This is hands down my favorite place to stay in Ecuador (and I have high standards). You will be cheating yourself if you do not stay here. It is luxurious, rustic, rural and serene with exceptional quality.

Room Tip: All of the cabins are gorgeous. You cannot go wrong with any of them. Excellent stay with family or...

Our Casa Divina cloud forest experience was amazing. It is obvious the minute you arrive that the owners Efrain and Molly have put great thought and work in creating a unique stay for their guests. We enjoyed our rustic and tastefully decorated cabin. Loved our outdoor balcony with its rocking chair and hammock where we could relax enjoying the beauty of the forest, birds and a babbling brook. So peaceful with lots of visits from hummingbirds! The hot water was plentiful for baths or showers and plenty of drinking water was provided. Drifting off to sleep at night we were even treated to the twinkling of fireflies in the forest. The main lodge was lovely with a comfortable sitting area that we took advantage of a beverage and their supply of helpful cloud forest resource books. The staff always warmly greeted us and were patient answering our many questions. The food was wonderful offering good variety and served to you at one of their tastefully decorated tables. We particularly was trilled with our candle light dinners and delicious desserts capping off a memorable day. Our reason for visiting the Mindo area was our love of bird watching. At the Casa Devina Lodge you don't even have to leave the main lodge to see an impressive varied of birds right from the breakfast table! Large windows and some craft fully placed bananas draw in some early morning birdie guests that you can enjoy with a coffee and camera in hand. We went on four different guided tours with Efrain soaking up his expansive knowledge of birds, flora and fauna of his beloved Mindo region. He was very professional and showed great enthusiasm to show us as many birds as he could find. Our first evening there we went out on a night tour. Hiking around in the forest in the dark with our flash lights looking for frogs, spiders and owls. It was so much fun and a very unique way to see this spectacular environment. We also went on the cock of the rock tour and were not disappointed seeing four of these playful unusual looking birds. Back to the lodge for breakfast then off again in pursuit of more birds. The next day another morning hike in the beautiful county side with many exciting finds. We saw so many beautiful birds, plants and even one of their wild guinea pigs. It's hard to describe the cloud forest the beauty of it is jaw dropping you don't know where to look first. Plants, birds, flowers and a peaceful serenity. Our visit wouldn't be complete if we didn't wander in to the town of Mindo and take in some of the other local attractions. An easy hike we enjoyed seeing the orchid farm, butterfly farm and had wonderful warm cinnamon buns at a local bakery there. Do we have anything negative to say about our stay at the Casa Divina Lodge? Yes, we wish we had booked more days there!!

Room Tip: The cabins there are two story with accommodations one on the main floor and one upstairs. We stayed...

Attention, food, rooms, help are all wonderful!!!

This place was the one "resort" we stayed at in Ecuador. Efrain and Laura were both wonderful, as was Alex, who drove us there from Quito.

Breakfast and dinner were great, wonderful wines, Laura makes a great Margaritia!

Spent 2 nights there, took a night hike with Efrain and had a blast. Felt like I was on the set of King Kong - leaves, bamboo, everything was larger than life.

About a 20 minute walk (with plenty of stops for pictures) down to Mindo.

Not to be beaten.

Room Tip: upper cabins seemed a little bit nicer.

We spent 3 days & 2 nights at Casa Divina following a short time in Quito, & before heading to the Galapagos Islands. Casa Divina truly lived up to its name....the main lodge/dining room & beautifully designed hand-crafted, rustic wood cottages are surrounded by lush tropical plants, fragrant flowers, a rainbow of birds & butterflies. Owners Molly Brown, & her expert naturalist husband, Efrain( who has also done most of the gorgeous woodwork), along with their lovely neighbor/staff member Laura, go out of their way to ensure your time is the best it can be. The stay includes a delicious, generous, & healthy breakfast and very well-prepared dinner, with consideration for any dietary concerns. We signed up for bird-watching walks with Efrain, aren't birders, but after our experiences with him, can easily understand the addiction. Our time at Casa Divina turned out to be truly memorable & one of the highlights of our trip. It will be our pleasure to recommend it to anyone heading to Mindo, & hope we will have the opportunity to return. BTW, we found out the lodge is named for Divina, the owners' oldest daughter, and at the same time, perfectly describes this lovely piece of paradise!

Mindo is a lovely little town for nature lovers, aspecially birders. We'd been there a couple of times before. This time we chose Casa Divina based on their website and we were not disappointed.
There are just 5 cabanas, of different sizes. Ours was a two floors one as we were with other relatives. The sleeping area and bathroom are very spacious, with lovely decor and everything is made of lovely solid wood. Hammocks and easy chairs on the large balcony bring the birds to you. We slept so well thanks to the silence and the murmuring of the nearby creek.
The dining room is all wood (solid) and we were told that the owner Efraim, a carpenter by trade, has built all of it. On the second floor there is a large bird observation area and a play area for children. Lots of books and boardgames available.
The owners, Molly and Efraim, as well as the administrator Laura are super friendly. Food was wonderful, healthy breakfast buffet with lots of fruit, granola, yogurt, muffins, eggs, waffles, etc. Delicious soups at dinner.
Efraim gave us two tours, one nature night tour and one daytime birding tour and we were able to take lots of pictures thanks to his eagle eyed spotting.
If you make use of their transportation from your hotel and back make sure to ask for the larger van. On the way there we were a bit crowded (3 adults and a child) in a smallish sedan; on the way back we were driven in a van.
We highly recommend Casa Divina on all counts.

You will see informative signs posted throughout town about the effects of pollution and all households and businesses separate our waste into organic and non-organic bins. The young people from Mindo are proud of their town, their work and the opportunity to have an international experience in a small rural town.Although Mindo still has a long way to go in its development as an "eco-destination," change and progress are happening and it's exciting to be part of the process. We invite you to come and kick up your heels at Casa Divina Lodge and participate in community tourism in the making. ... more   less
