Very friendly and helpful owners made this place. It has a quirky design. Its location is right in the centre of town. The bed was huge and luxurious. Pity about the noisy cockrell nearby , but that's not the hotel's fault. Mindo is a beautiful area for walks and birding. There are several restaurants in town- although they all seem to shut early!

We spent two nights at The Dragonfly but couldn't sleep because of the street noise and lights illuminating our room. (Other rooms may be better.) We had a nice dinner at Caskefessu and decided to move there for our next two nights. What a welcoming we received! Susan and Luis are wonderful hosts and arranged our zip line and rafting tours. They both speak English and Spanish so it was easy to commmunicate. Our breakfast was great too: two eggs, rolls with jam and butter, fresh juice, and premium coffee! The dining room is comfortable and cozy with a nice fireplace and wi-fi. Susan and Luis clearly love what they're doing and are dedicated to making your stay a delightful one. We highly recommend Caskefessu for lodging or dining.

My friends and I stayed here for a night during a trip to Mindo. The owners of the hostel were incredibly friendly and gave us lots of advice on what to see and do. They also make the best brownies I've ever had! The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable and the hostel is located right around the corner from the bus station so it's very convenient as well.

This place was amazing. It had real beds (as in thick matresses America-style) and the coffee was quality. Both of those are rare in Ecuador if you aren't shelling out the dough. This place was a great value, and actually took us in after our reservation was lost at another hotel in town. They got us set up in a cute little room at about 11:30 at night and were happy to do so. What a relief at the end of a day of travelling!

I would recommend this place to everyone, and I'll definitely go back next time I swing through Ecuador.

Susan and Luis are amazing. My 4year old daughter was traveling with me, and they made us feel very very welcome and recommended kid-friendly activities. No matter how busy they were, Susan and Luis always had time to answer our many questions. Not to mention that they hotel and the surrounding location are absolutely gorgeous. One more bonus was that Susan, like me, is a former Peace Corps volunteer. We discovered that we had met 12 years earlier!

I've stayed at Caskaffesu two years running now, and have been completely satisfied on both trips. Luis and Susan are wonderful, and the lodgings are clean, pretty, and well-equipped. The food and drinks are great, and offer nice variety for such a small town.

In 2009, Susan helped us get oriented to Mindo and its activities. We enjoyed four days in the town. I returned in 2010 to find everything much the same (beautiful and relaxing), and Susan was still there, this time to coddle us through a bout of altitude sickness we brought upon ourselves! (We undertook a long, high hike on our first morning in the country--bad idea). I would wholheartedly recommend Caskaffesu to anyone staying in Ecuador. It's true that there are cheaper places, but for just a few dollars more (and a lot less than all-inclusive places such as El Monte) you get friendly owners who will go out of their way to coordinate your stay. Kudos!
