We stayed 2 nights at CasKaffeSu and had a fantastic time. The hotel itself is in a perfect location right in the center of town, with welcoming common areas and comfortable rooms. The owner Susan is awesome - she set us up with an amazing bird guide to visit the legendary Cock of the Rock, gave us information on everything around and outside of town, served up some fantastic coffee, and in general made our stay in Mindo a great experience. We would highly recommend CasKaffeSu to anyone thinking about visiting Mindo.

We stayed two nights and enjoyed the close proximity to the bus station, just around the corner. Susan was very nice to us and was for the most part a one person show as her husband (and dogs) were away during our stay. We stayed downstairs in room #4. It was cleaned daily and was small but cozy, with two double beds. We did find it a bit noisy at times as it is next to a stairway and the plumbing and other noise from the upstairs room could easily be heard in our room.
The restrauant served average food, with good service. It was a plus to be able to run a tab and pay with a credit card at the end of our stay. Seems like a small thing but is unusual for a budget hotel. We had read in other reviews that there is a charge for filling your water bottles at the hotel. This policy has been changed since the owners invested in a state of the art water purification system from the States. Now there is no limit or charge for guests to fill personal water bottles and the water tastes really good. We would stay there again but only if an upstairs room was available.

Room Tip: Upstairs may be quieter.

My husband, son and I stayed here for two nights in August 2013. We loved the rooms, the location, and the excellent service. Although we probably asked the same questions that Susan and Luis hear over and over again, they answered as if hearing them for the first time. Quite a feat! Their enthusiasm for Mindo is contagious, and we would stay at Caskaffesu again if we return to the Mindo area. We can't recommend it highly enough.

My only suggestion: at some point in your trip to the cloud forest, try and stay at an out-of-town location, in addition to Caskaffesu. Its in-town location is great for day trips around the area. Then it's nice to experience the cloud forest in a more remote setting.

Myself and my husband stayed here. We planned to stay for four nights, however extended our stay as we fell in love with this place and also mindo itself. Caskaffesu has its own brand of chocolate and coffee which we loved, they also sell the chocolate at the front desk. The hostel itself is so clean and kept to a very high standard. Your room is cleaned every day with fresh towels delivered every day. You will feel very welcome here. The laundry service is fantastic and well worth it. We got our laundry done here twice and on both times it was delivered back to our rooms in no time. I read previously that people had to pay for water, this is not the case as there is a purifying water system available for guests to refill there bottles as much as they please. The food here is so tasty, I think we ate most days here as it should be rated the best in mindo, very fresh produce used. Sue and her husband run the hostel and are such great hosts, great recommendations and advice they give and so kind and friendly. The kitchen and cleaning staff are also very friendly. We did a number of activities while in mindo which I highly recommend; the zip lining, trek to all the waterfalls, the butterfly farm and also the chocolate factory is a great tour. Thanks so much for everything if we return we will defiantly be staying here. Lorraine & Sean

This place is where you should stay. The hostess knows the areas' secrets. She is committed to excellent service (and their dog obsessed family is pleasant to talk to). Their was a musty smell in our eccentric, but impeccable room overlooking the beautiful courtyard, but that seems to be everywhere in the tropical rainforest.

Perfect location, clean comfortable beds, hot showers. The food is fresh and good tasting. Luis and Susan go above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable! The courtyard is lush and gorgeous.. I will return to Mindo and stay at this hotel!

Caskaffesu is a wonderful oasis in the middle of Mindo. It has two stories so guests don't feel crowded together, as well as a second floor terrace (for private parties), and a lower dining room for meals. The breakfast was wonderful, with coffee from the plantation of Sue and her husband, as were all the meals, freshly cooked and served in an appetizing way. Both owners were very helpful answering questions about sights to see in Mindo, a lovely town in the mountains surrounded by rivers and cascades. The only negative comment I have is that several families with small children were staying the weekend I was there, in rooms surrounding mine. I suppose I could have asked to change rooms because they were there 2 nights out of the 3 I stayed. I could hear the kids crying at night and then running around from room to room early in the morning, chased by their parents, who didn't think of lowering their voices at 6am out of respect for other guests. Of course, it wasn't the fault of the owners, but I would have appreciated a room 'far from the madding crowd'. Other than that, the stay was pleasant and perfect in every other way!

Room Tip: Book in advance and ask for a quiet room in case there are families with small children there during...
