I popped in here solo one rainy day. I ordered a (delicious!) proper espresso style coffee. Finally! Somewhere in Ecuador that knows how to make quality coffee!
The setting is comfortable and welcoming. It smells of coffee beans and incense (lovely). There is even a gift shop, featuring the work of Ecuadorian artesans - it's a rather overpriced gift shop, in my opinion. Backpackers won't shop there, because all of the items can be found cheaper elsewhere, but wealthy western travellers would probably find it easy to shop there. Nice items!
It felt like a boutique coffee shop somewhere in Canada. Also, it seems to be the only place in town where you can buy stamps and mail postcards. Relief! I hadn't found stamps for weeks of travel, so I was so excited to send out the last of my postcards from here.
The service was so-so, even after I asked to take photos for trip advisor. Nonetheless, a cozy little retreat from the rain.
