Richard Hernandez did a great job. He took my family and me on a two-day guided tour of the Mido area. Right from the first contact to the final good-bye, he was professional and helpful. His knowledge of the area (and Ecuador as well) is impressively broad and he is skillful at communicating it. All in all, I highlight recommend Richard as a guide, and Mindo as a destination

We went with Gulliver, and had a good time. The listed programme wasn't followed, which was a bit of a surprise for some of the group, while it did make sense to skip bird watching, if it's too late in the day (you can only wonder why it's listed at all if it needs to be done at dawn, and we arrived in Mindo at 9). Started with a cable car to a water fall, followed by some fun zip-lining. We skipped the chocolate factory and went for a stroll in town instead.
Lunch was ok - we had to change restaurants as the first one had run out of food.
Finished it off with butterflies and hummingbirds.
On our way back, they made a quick stop at the Mitad del Mundo monument which was a nice bonus for me who didn't have time to visit it otherwise.

All in all an enjoyable day, recommend this.

Richard was an excellent tour guide. We started off with an excellent view of the crater town, hike through a jungle to a beautiful waterfall then onto Mindo where we zip lined (this is insanely fun), visited the butterfly farm, ate a delicious lunch and then Richard added a stop at the Middle of the World tour where you get to see and do some really neat stuff. And our trip wasn't complete until we stopped where Andrew Zimmern at Guinea Pig and we tried some ourselves. The day lasted almost 10 hours. Very professional and Rich's English is perfect.

We're so glad we found Richard and booked this day tour with him. We learned a ton about the flora and fauna of this area. Richard was born and raised in this wonderful place so he is very passionate about sharing information. Our favorite stop was the hummingbirds. We recommend this tour for sure.
