“Great Chilled out place”
Reviewed February 3, 2014

I would say this is the best hotel I have stayed in since I arrived in Brazil.. friendly and professional staff, lovely beds on the beach, great food and you can check out at 6pm on a sunday so you can have a full day and enjoy the sun without the usual rush to check out at 12.

I love this place. The hotel is 5 stars. Rooms are great. The service is perfect and the view is gorgeous. There is always good music playing around the hotel.
And Restaurant Troia has one of the best Chefs in Brazil.
We come here all the time.
I really recommend!!

Excellent Service, employees don't simple follow their job, they help each other and do whatever is necessary to make guests happy. The place is awesome, great view, beach, nature and pool. The food could be better, it can be considered extremely expensive for the given quality. I will return to the hotel, but I don't recommend eating in the hotel restaurant everyday, you can go to Marakuthai restaurant in same isle.

I don't want to start with negative points so I will highlight what I think is nice about the hotel.
Rooms are big and spacious. We were lucky to be upgraded to a sea view room otherwise we would have been on a room without any view and a tiny window inside the bathroom.
The design is very cute and gives it a nice atmosphere in the hotel. Very trendy and boutique style. Perfect for couples. The swimming pool is nice and big and the beach is also very pretty with confy beach beds. The sea is perfect for swimming and very clean. It has everything to be the best hotel BUT service is something that does not exist in this place unfortunately. The staff never greets you, when you enter a restaurant no one acknowledges your presence. You can actually enter and choose whatever table you want but good luck waiting for someone to come help you. We ordered food and it took over an hour to get it and no, the restaurant was not full. It was us and another 3 tables. I don't think they know anything about service flow. Sadly enough the 20% service charge is added almost mandatory in the final bill but I don't they deserve it. I am not sure if they lack training from the hotel itself or if they simply don't care about serving people and trust me, nothing there is cheap. Food and drinks are quite expensive. A small meal for 2 and drinks will not cost you less than 200 Reais.
I had read other reviews here about their bad service and I'm sorry I will have to agree with all of them.
I hope that the management do something about the service levels because the hotel itself is stunning!

The Curral Beach is just wonderful to swim or just get sun-tanned. It is one of my favorite beaches in the world, particularly during the summer. The DPNY Hotel takes advantage of its location in that wonderful place. Its gothic-medieval-new rich-modern style may deceive you at first; do not allow yourself to feel like a cow with the ridiculous wrist band that they tag you at the front desk - it is just an identification tool to help workers know that you are a guest and what is your status inside the hotel. Little by little, you will understand why Conde Nast elected it the best beach hotel in South America: wonderful drinks, wonderful food, nice rooms, good everything… unique scenery of a beach that looks like a natural swimming pool. Breakfast amazing, wonderful spa services. Beach staff was a bit lazy or not well coordinated - drinks took long time to arrive and had to request drink menu three times to get it… But on a scenery like that, lazily resting either on the beach or at the swimming pool, who cares? who could ask for anything more?

Room Tip: rooms on the side of the beach are better but more costly.

Beachclub and Beachhotel in the south of Ilhabela. I have been here a couple of years ago, and I was disappointed. First of all the hotel (seating, decks and wood at the pool/beach) has a bit come down. The white seats are dirty, the wooden furniture is not very well maintained. Secondly the meals (incl. Sushi) are OK, but not good enough for the price that they charge. Sea Club offers a better price/quality at a much better location. They just try to cash-in…also the public is more popular than a couple of years ago, maybe it is logical if you can even finance your hotel stay in 10 times….

Room Tip: Do NOT choose the rooms at the other side of the road!!
