My girlfriend and I ventured out to the Lagostão Restaurant after checking the rave reviews on TripAdvisor. We were not disappointed. The location, a 10-min drive inland, was indeed a bit shady but, truth be told, we never felt unsafe. The restaurant interiors are simple and basic and the staff, made up of close-knit family members, could not be friendlier. The food is reasonably priced (perhaps 50-70% cheaper than any equivalents peddled on the beachfront strip) and divinely prepared. Everything from the shrimp moqueca (Bobó de Camarão) to the lemonade was amazing! During our 3-day stay in Macaé, we hit a number of places by the beach. This was, hands-down, the winner. Hats off to Lagostão!
